actually after reading botes post, I have to agree to the extent that certain things like what he said about lazy people not spending alot of time on their videos probably does reflect the fact that those people are probably also lazy in other things they do. Using me as an example, I am lazy, but when I do something I like to do it to the best of my ability, wich reflects also in my amvs. (takes me a while to actually start on one, and easily distracted while working on it, but I do it right when I do it ;p)

Well artistically a lot of times people just do things that appeal to themselves. Just because of the way Terintino does his movies doesn't mean he's some sick fuck, it just means that he ENJOYS doing that. Its the same reason why some people do tons of action videos and some people do tons of drama ones. Its not that theyre some action junkie or drama queen, its just what appeals to them and in the end, looks good to them.

I work a lot with just special effects and a home video camera, and I do some home movies of people in like, a gun fight or something simple like that. Does it mean I'm going to pick up a Glock and run down to the local Acme or McDonalds and start blowin people away and flipping over the counters and doing matrix leaps into the play area? No. I just enjoy editing those types of videos, just working with different types of muzzle flashes and camera angles, and in the end I work with it until it looks good to me.

In general I feel that any type of editing or artistic content or whatever you want to call it for that matter, its what someone enjoys doing and gets a lot of personal satisfaction out of it. Whether its through praise or personal satisfaction, someone is getting some kind of personal or psycological benefit for their efforts, and thats why they continue them.

Its that simple.

Beo you do a lot of deep things because you enjoy that and feel that thats the way things should be done. Which is great, I like that about you, you're very original and your videos are quite stylish and you seem to be a pretty deep person. And I see you enjoy doing that because you continue to do it. You like being artistic that way because thats what you feel you can have the most fun with. Does it mean thats the one true way to make a decent video or express yourself creativly? Of course not.

I don't think so, man. Otherwise I might think you were intelligent, but look at this thread.
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

what kind of amvs i make really depends on my mood O.o so i would say in my case yes...

for others it might be an online persona that they are trying to perpetuate...
