I couldn't agree more. Before the org, art had little influence or rather It wasn't as appealing to me. Art was just considered fancy paintings and creational activity. However after experiencing working with two things i like (anime and music) to create something as a form of experession, I realised there is alot more to art as a whole then just the finished product.

Easy examples:
How you create it
What your creating
What or how you want your audience to feel / react

I never really answered the question myself. I'm alot more outgoing then I used to be. I used to be a rather dark and mellowed out person irl. For the most part I still am but I engage in activity more frequently. I'm not sure if thats cause of the org or not but generally I'm more assertive on the org which would eventually effect me irl. Small meager problems bugged the hell out of me and made me angry irl usually I'd just bash whoever did them or make fun of em. After the org I realised where they were coming from. Experienced it myself first hand when I joined. I guess I'm more helpful and considerate then I used to be or atleast I try to be.

I've met some cool people on the org. No plans to meet face to face with anyone but in general I wouldn't put them past any of my RL friends.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

Funny, those were the first things I had clear in my mind, when I started. In my case, Org helps me mainly on the field of techniques, "How do I do this effect" or "The encode got all screwed, what may have caused it".
I always knew what I am creating and I don't let anyone influence it most of the time. It may be weird or unwatchable (because it's boring), but that's mostly because I liked it that way.

So, I guess... the thing that changed me the most, on the Org, is...

kewp.

In bed.

The org has changed me, of course, it is a big part of my life, been here for a veeeeery long time. This place has made me slightly bitter, but I've also met some of the greatest friends that I have from this place as well, there's lots of good memories and such to reflect on as well. I think getting into the amv scene has changed alot about me, one of those things being the type of music I listen to, which has broadened incredibly compared to what I listened to when I first joined this place.

Yes.

we should compile a list.
  • Become desensitized to most forms of entertainment*
  • Become more critical of multimedia**
  • See things from multiple perspectives***
  • See anything and everything as something I can put into an AMV †
  • Come down with technophilia ‡
* except music, but that's been heavily influenced as well.
** perhaps this is the 'asshole syndrome' people are referring too
*** internet audience, con audience, friends, other editors... etc.
† it encourages my creative side... but sometimes I just want to enjoy things for what they are :|
‡ always striving for superior technological stuff as the answer for everything

Some of these things may sound bad, but they all have there plus' and minus'

I'm not sure how different I am now then I was before I joined. My method of video release is different and people I tend to hang out with at cons is different now, but overall, other then a difference in people, not sure much has changed.

One thing that has changed is my technique, but I suppose that should evolve naturally.

I'm still a lazy bastard, and if anything, the org has once again confirmed to me that there are all kinds of people out there. Good and bad. At least the people here are creative (or at least want to be) and generally helpful (even if they don't admit it).

So, at least for me, no.

Can't say it has.

I'd wager God Hand has changed me more than the Org.

Changed me? Yeah, most likely.

I have learned a lot just lurking in IRC, the forums and the journals. I've also met a lot of very cool people online and in person. The technical things I have learned have trickled over into other aspects of my life including my work. There's no way I would know Photoshop as well as I do now without video editing.

I'm in the process of trying to get my life back though...

It's changed me in that I have met alot of cool people I probably would have never known otherwise. Also, I find myself being more critical of editing when I watch something on TV, movies, commercials, etc...
