Oh man, I got to your email first. For some reason it didn't dawn on me I could sit in this thread. I also have email subscription set up apparently. Sorry, it's been a long time since I've been on this site! XD

They are actually digital8 tapes. I ran into that problem with capturing them too. My camcorder won't usb stream to windows 7, and laptop doesn't have a firewire port. I had to rush order a tv tuner dongle thing yesterday that had female composite to male usb. I hope it works.

I already replied to your email, but with the additional info you gave me here, I can send you everything (camcorder, digital8 tapes, tv tuner dongle) when I'm done with them (which could be as late as december). I can't help you with the miniDVs, unfortunately. Maybe you can borrow an old camcorder or something.

I might need the digital8 stuff back eventually (very low possibility), but you can sit on the miniDVs for a long time.

I trust you will send it all back eventually, anyway. I hope.

Oh! I didn't realize they were Digital 8 and not Hi8, so yes, I can also capture Digital 8, still have 2 cameras! So yes, whenever you want to send all the things, I'll get to them.

Have you given any thought to making a mini series as opposed to one long film? I think both formats have their merits, depending on what direction you want to go. A series can make it easier to break things up into different topics and ideas though.

This would be really fun to watch!

When I hear AMV documentary, I imagine like those cosplay documentaries where they follow someone months before the cosplayers debut convention. But I guess that would be more of a reality show haha I don't watch enough documentaries so I'm not sure what to expect if this did happen.

Make it a mini series like that one guy said

ongoing youtube series, make a channel for it

do ongoing interviews, make a website amvERRs'z.com do written interviews for ones you cant ifnd

make sure to only post images of the good looking weebs

make introduction videos to the hobby really epic with the best shit, show people like dramatically moving their mouse, orchestral stabs when they cut the footage, show them press a button and particle illusion comes OUT OF THE SCREEN AND POURS OVER THEIR BODY then flash best part of amvs inbetween that shit

show kids smoking outside of coffe shops with those new evaporing ciggerates with their ipads on w/e editor that got editing amv footage

be sure to flash koop pics every 21 seconds in the videos

just osme ideas hope ihelp

also this should be first video

I'm starting to agree that a series would be much better than a full length doc at this point.

The hobby is so incredibly gigantic and has so many people involved that a a full length doc can't begin to comprehend it all.

What is the goal of this project and how would it be different from "Lip Flapper: The Webseries"? Who is the audience for it?

I'd absolutely watch a well-made documentary on this subject. An episodic series on Youtube would descend into self-congratulatory nonsense really fast and I don't know if anyone outside of this forum would watch it.
