Damn. I thought you were rude and out of line at AX this year, but I really had no idea how bad the situation was.

please, tell us all what cons you plan to attend in 2003, sooner or later, you need a "traditional" education, that will allow you to adjust to your status apropriately. ;)

There's nothing wrong with you a good beatdown wouldn't fix, tommy. you need to learn to show some respect.

I'm not impressed by your size, I'm just as big. I'm not impressed by your martial skills, from what I've seen.

I believe you know better, so grow up, kiddo.

The only reason I started making AMVs is becuase MJ & Machine said that there were free hookers for all AMV creators @ AWA. I've yet to partake of the free hookers @ AWA since I've yet to go there, but I need a video to be able to enter.

As for the newbies. The problem with the "who do you mak a musiv vide!?" question is that the person showed their ability to break every rule in the english dictionary. Basically it states, I can't even write a simple sentance out, yet I want you to tell me how to do advanced video editing techniques.

The ones that ask nicely I give them some pointers and there are a couple guides out there on how to start making AMVs. So I TRY to be nice. The only time I feel like flaming people is if they get bitchy or if they try to give out mis-information.

We can't be elite AMV creators till we sell our own clothing line it seems hehe, but seriously I though it was a joke at 1st o_O I think it might be fun to have ur own stuff but this seems like as close as amv creators can get to selling out.
Upon further inpection it seems to be free to make a shop since they just print the logo on junk, but still..... seems like it's one more reason most conventions take out titles and logos. Since it seems cheap to do I might get something for myself/friends with a big ol =l face but I'm not gonna post it on the org's members page.

It's shameful AD :P

I know this is very late to be posting this but...

SpPANDA... in the real world, what you are saying just isn't true. If you'd gone to AWA and met all the amv creators there you'd have discovered that there was no egotism, no bragging, no fighting, no criticism. There was an abundance of mutual respect for ALL amv creators.

Now, of course, online things look a little different. Online people can be morons without worrying about it too much, and frequently they are. A lot of the personal respect doesn't exist essentially because some people just don't care or because it's easy to jump to the wrong conclusions.

I'm not talking about the main creators though, I'm talking about the ones who haven't met the people they are talking to in public. There used to be a big Machine vs ErMaC rivalry which which completely abolished when they met each other. Online you get such a skewed perspective of what people are like.

Recently things have been made worse by the spiteful opinions of those who are just here fo the Off Topic forums, and this makes it seem much worse than it is. As an actual community, the amv one is a pretty good one - really - with everyone pulling together and encouraging each other's work. Online, it's tainted by a lack of respect.

I was really annoyed seeing Mag Launcher have a tirade about effects in videos in the thread advertising Mike and Meri's ddr video. They worked so hard to get that video done in the short amount of time they were given (as backup editors) and the attack didnt take any of that into consideration and criticised everyone else who were congratulating the two for doing such a good job.

The same thing is repeated over an over in other places. The way things work online are so very different to the way things are at conventions and it's a real shame. I can understand being annoyed at this, I get annoyed too, but I'm encouraged by the fact that it's not like this in reality.

I think AX is possibly the worst example of how things are, from what I was told by other creators.

I don't feel like getting into this argument, but I just want to clear something up. With all due respect to ErMaC, he has been on the project for only one year, and as a backup editor -- none of the organizers have said ANYTHING about claiming "exclusive rights" to the mixes. I think he was stating his own opinion, which, unfortunately, was incorrect. Quu and I had even been talking at Otakon, way before any of this shit went down, about doing up to 6th Mix and then stopping, and if someone else wants to pick it up after that, then good for them. There's even a private DDR project going on now using a completely different mix, and no one has any problem with it.

My primary concern has always editors such as Omnistrata (who I am NOT claiming to be better than, just so we get that cleared up right now), who started their 5th Mix tracks, but were then left without a project. I'm just glad it didn't drag on so long that he actually FINISHED his track, and had nowhere to send it. Because if he tried to send it to us, it would be unfair to turn him away, but it would also be unfair if we accepted him, since an editor who had worked hard for 3 years on our project might have wanted that track. I've stated this before, but people don't seem to be listening or understanding. If Kevin Caldwell himself had risen from the "dead" and wanted to start his own 5th Mix project, I would have told him the exact same thing. (sorry, I think he was good, but not a "god," but since many of you DO think of him that way, I thought it'd be a good contrasting example)

I don't particularly agree with what Spamda said, especially since I think 95% of my videos are utter crap and the other 5% are "okay," but I just don't feel like getting into that argument at this moment.

Ninja DJ Hsien, signing off.
I have no idea how to use this new forum.
