What is the main purpose of an AMV?

I get more self-satisfaction out of editing than sending American money to help starving third world economies.

I started this thread to see other’s ideas on the purpose of AMVs. Not the reason for making AMVs. Why we make AMVs is way to personal and, at least for me, can vary from one AMV to the next.

Interesting stuff here.

If AMVs had any significant purpose, two-bit pseudo-philosophers like you wouldn't be asking about it. I'm sick of dumbfucks trying to be so objective about the whole thing as if it could be summed up in some simple hand-me-down theory. If you can't live in a subjective world, you may as well commit suicide now.

-_- why must ppl actually waste their time to flame a thread? it takes two seconds to hit the backspace key and go back and 5-30 seconds to write a reply to the thread. Hmmmmm i like the backspace key better.

He's not "flaming" the thread, he's voicing an honest opinion with the intention to get a point across rather than offend.

wouldnt the purpose for making them essentially be the same as the purpose for their being?

If you separate an AMV from my reasons for doing it,

then the purpose of an AMV, in my view, is the same as the purpose of a terrorist act
