Final Fantasy VIII - Celine Dion - My Heart Will Go On. I don't know who made it because there are like a million of them. It was about 1999-2000 and it (along with a handful of others) were hosted on a video game MP3 site that, unsurprisingly, no longer exists.
It wasn't particularly good, but the idea was interesting, so I started looking around for more. The org didn't host videos yet. You dern kids don't know how easy you have it. Though then, I had it easier than the tape-trading days, or however people distributed them in Ye Olden Tymes.

March 28, 2005. I was talking to my bf, immorrel, who at the time was my ex that I was still friends with, but anyway. He said he had made a video and directed me over here to check it out. And I did. I had never seen an AMV or anything of the sort, so I thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread and wanted to make them too. *sigh* I still blame him to this day.

Hrmm...my first vid was
this DBZ action vid when my friends and I were crazy about the show. No really...watching it, recording it off CN, playing the video games, card games...everything...
It was an Action vid with Limp Bizkit's Rollin (Urban Assault Vehicle)
There are like 6 on the site and since I am at work I cant look through them =p

1st was the official video for KMFDM's Juke Joint Jezebel (1995ish), which uses Patlabor and concert footage. I thought it was pretty cool at the time, but looking back at it the editing is not that good.
2nd was in 2001 when I was looking for a Rob Zombie video on P2P and got a crappy AMV by mistake.
3rd was at a party in 2005, when it got late the hosts put on AMV Hell 3 and we all lulzed. That was when it clicked.

I didn't even know the AMV I first saw WAS an AMV until some time later, when I ran into this place...regardless, I've never been able to find that AMV again - still stands out in my mind as a stellar example of totally straight cuts with fantastic internal synching:
FF8 to Metallica's Enter Sandman <--- I used to sit there and watch it over and over and over and over....that is the ONLY AMV I have ever done that with.
Heck, at the time it probably would not have been considered an AMV, more like a GMV, but since we no longer make that hard and fast distinction, it still counts.
