I've Used songs that range most years. You can find an anime for any song, depends on the theme of the anime/amv and pace of song along sided the anime. Sabbath does a lot of bluesy/metal songs that are generally slow paced and methodical. Motorhead would challenge any AMV'er as does Tankard, Pantera and other speedy bands.

 Death Note or Elfen Lied to "Black Sabbath" by Black Sabbath sounds like a good combo Especially considering both have a slow pace. In all that is metal you still gotta give the gods of metal (Sabbath, Judas Priest, Alice Cooper, AC/DC, KISS, Iron Maiden, Led Zeplin) their due.

I posted without thinking, (I always do)I think that a retro MEP would sound refreshing, as scary as this stuff gets. However, I'm new here and merely "browsing" the MEP section doesn't say enough for me to start one by myself, if anyone would like to help me I take PM's. :D

There are definitely some impressive 90's and under generations of music, the art is how we can make it match anime as well as make it "good".

My musical tastes tend to be extremely eclectic, and at almost-36 years old I tend to think I'm one of the older editors here (maybe? maybe not?) so my collection spans a lot of decades and genres. I tend to trawl through my iTunes and see if something hits me either by looking at songs or playing them. That happens more often than me watching an anime and getting an idea, although that has happened a few times.

My brain is wrong and tends to like making screwed up connections between songs I have and particular anime.

I'd love to do an amv with Type O Negative, but their stuff is just too slow and sludgey, darnit! They need to do a remix album. Maybe have Rob Zombie fool with their stuff. :P

If i were to use a "retro" song for an AMV is there something I should watch out for? Or is it just personal preference why the earlier stuff isnt used?
I agree, man. There's alot of great old school stuff that are some of the greatest songs of all time that nobody gives a damn about.
