Well, if you refused to edit to things that were used often on Youtube, you'd run out of source rather quickly.

Do you KNOW how many good anime are out there that aren't overused? Has anyone on youtube overused "welcome to the nhk"? The point i was making is just that i dont edit with mainstream stuff. It gets tiring. I like really underground anime. : P

I wouldn't go into absolutes if I were you (unless your seriously serious that is I mean like really extreme kind of serious no take backs), one has made a great argument that DBZ Kai and the latest Naruto is VASTLY underused here. And, yes, there IS some usable footage in them.

Also mainstream is GREAT if not for parody videos!!

one more stab but you're right, there are SO MANY other usable video sources out there, some are simply overused. But I'd never go so far as to state I'd never use them Even DBZ is usefull as just a template or something.

i don't think there's a source that i can guarantee myself never editing to. but i likely won't edit to a mecha anime. i also don't find it too likely that i'll ever be editing to mainstream pop. i'm never going to edit to an anime or musical artist that i dislike, now that i can say.

there are actually tons of good editors on youtube, just because they don't storyboard doesn't mean they can't edit.

but uh, i don't see the wrong in editing a source if the editor wants to and enjoys it, even if there will be bitching and complaints about how you used !naruto! !!!ommg!

First i want to touch on Durarara and Angel beats....you seriously mentioned these as "mainstream" but skipped over Anime like Death Note and Code Geass and Haruhi and One Piece? Really, did you just Compare Angel Beats and Durarara on par with these in terms of being "mainstream?" I mean i wish Drarara was that popular but come on, there is no comparison to the popularity of these powerhouses of shows.

2) Music i don't like or wouldn't make a good story or comedy of any type.

1) Hentai or anything that's yaoi or yuri. On occasion, I may make videos that imply it, but they are for friends only and I will not do so otherwise.
2) Anything Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana related, Justin Beiber, most Twilight soundtrack songs (Decode by Paramore is the only exception so far) or anything too overly sexual. I also try to stay away from Lady Gaga, but I tend to bend this a bit depending on the song.
