Is there any other way? :P

You HAVE to stand listening to the song over...and over...and OVER if you really want to make a good video. (And imagine what I went through to make THIS!: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=42294 )

My view on that as a creator is, If your going to make a Naruto/Linkin park video that won;t be accepted by creators because of the song/anime choice, then make it good enough that it doesn't matter so much. *cough Toushi cough* And if your going to go the artistic route, Use NGE ;p

Anyway, seriously, There are many reasons, but I guess it sums up to because I like it. And I don't limit myself to any of those originality, overused anime/song, or whatnot stuff, If i have an *Idea* I like, that I feel havn't been expressed well enough by someone else, I do it anyway.

I would have to say I do this for myself. I am not an artistic person, I can hardly draw stick people, I find it rewarding to sit back and say I made this. :) My kids think I do pretty well and a few people like what I create.

I had seen very few AMVs done to the old songs that I enjoy, so I decided to try making a few. I don't hope to be as good at this as many here are, but I like what I've done, simple as they are, they are mine.
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?

A lot of people seem to get sick of a song when they edit but I actually like it more. When I started my second video I didn't like parts of the song but now I sometimes start singing it randomly :).

I've found it very hard to justify my hobby to people ocationally. I try to show them good videos but they can't see past the fact that we don't create our own footage. I just tell them that I do it for the satisfaction and because I love watching AMV's.

It depends for who, too. If I show them to some of my brother's friends, they're usually like "whoa, cool!", or "trippy", or something. I'm sure my parents would be less than impressed... but I don't think they're even interested in as much as seeing it. And usually the 'not making your own footage' is the top reason for that dismissiveness, indeed

I made vids a couple years ago, mostly angst ball z, really cheesey stuff made in QTPro. Yes, I made videos in quicktime pro, lmao. Unfortunately I lost all of them in a HD crash.

Then I came to this site and saw the #1 vid (Euphoria [Koop]) and I was blown away and got back into it. But now my range of anime is a lot broader and I have better proggys ;p

Me too. If you don`t like to listen to the same music over and over, by the time you finish the vid you already hate the song. Then you have to wait a week without listening to it before trying to see if you did a good job. Happens to a friend of mine all the time, when he`s either making a vid or suffering over his poor skills at mastering the guitar. He tries so many times to get a certain song right, that he eventually drops it.

Thank God we like the music. 8)

I HATE EDITING! I hate it soo much I wish I could pay a good "ghost-editor" to edit my vids for me!

For myself, seriously, moving little blocks of footage to here and to there and then recopying them and then being the special fx bonehead that I am, I have to complicate things by using repeated tricks like some stupid *rambles*

BUT! I know that when I'm done "suffering" There's at least one person out of everyone in the universe that should look at the video and say, "hey, that's not so bad..." [Usually that one person is just me. *shrug* ]

I make music videos for myself and da fans. I hate it, but I do it. "It's a durty job, but someone's gotta do it" right? :D

"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)

Yep, my thoughts on the technical side of editing exactly.

And yea, I tend to generally like your vids, so your 'suffering' is not wasted

Hate to tell you but from what I can tell trolling around the creators who aren't well known and popular the typical AMV is lucky if more than 100 or 200 people ever download it. Some AMVs and creators get a fair bit of recogniztion amoung fans but the majority aren't seen that often. If it's popularity you're after join a rock band, AMVs just aren't gonna get you fame and fortune.
