Something that doesn't have a bunch of useless effects. I greatly dislike flashy things unlike most human beings

Something that I really like that I would have never thought to do myself.

Could be anything really...from a complex effect to a scene selection to a concept.

Beat/lyric matching. That and the amv having a point/story that is tangential from the anime and not just a re-hashing of the anime's plot.

X2 as far as actual editing tricks go there is not much I like more than internal synch. Masking also gets a big kudos for the effort it takes.

successful innovation and/or concept. i.e. as long as you don't slop together scenes and call it modern amv art. Things like multi-anime amvs based on a concept (Tainted Donuts), Holy crap why didn't I think of it songs (One Piece - Captain Hampton), and style effect vids (Multi-anime Shake a tail feather vid, sorry, forget whose it is)
