Anyway, to actually answer the question, I just went through my favorites folder, which has about 40 AMVs in it at any given time. Right now it's 20 male, 15 female, 4 by mixed-gender teams (erm, not all were Mike & Meri...), and 6 are I Don't Know What Parts You've Got, And It Doesn't Seem Polite To Ask. That does have more of a slant than the org's demographical makeup, but probably because I have partly (but not entirely) girly tastes in anime.

...and between you, me, and the internet, girls on message boards who make a giant deal out of acting like sex kittens always make me think they're a) 13 years old or b) men.

None of the girls I've actually talked to act like that. Hm.

My thoughts on this?

I like girls. I like AMV's. I don't find the two mutually exclusive.

I do find some differences in artistic approaches; call it sexist though you may, but I still consistently find something in the 'feminine' way of thinking that completely eludes my rationale - which occasionally makes things very exciting.

My favorites do include a number of very good videos by female creators. Most are still probably male. This is compounded partially by the fact that I like videos that look like total ass and make the editor look likewise, and males seem to be more prone to that (or perhaps that's just my own experience).

...um, anyway, I think my points here are entirely pointless, so carry on as you may.

It never occured to me to even look.

When I did, I found that my highest scoring videos were almost all guys, whereas the videos in my favorites folder is somewhat slanted toward the girls, and indeterminates. IE: a video doen't have to be a ground breaking masterpeice to like.

So what does this mean? Beats me, I guess more girls need to start submitting videos to my free ops threads when I run them.

To actually answer the thread, I only have 3 vids by known female editors in my favorites. Then again, I only have 17 favorited so far, so that doesn't really say much.

I personally see myself as a very girly girl (though I don't often dress as such unless it's a special occasion) but I'm not really into all the shounen-bishi crap. I mean, sure, there are a quite a few anime crushes that I have, but I still will choose female characters as my favorites. I don't know if I'm biased or what, but rarely do I choose a male as my favorite, and I can only think of one anime at the moment where a male is my favorite, Full Metal Alchemist-Edward Elric, but that would be because there's very few female characters in FMA, and the few there are get very little screen time, though I love the series. (plus Ed is, quite frankly, very good looking and quite the moral boy.

) Trying to come to a point here... I'm mostly into videos that feature some of my favorite female characters. However, the one that I'm currently in the early stages of making, features my favorite Sailor Moon couple (Chibi-Usa and Helios) but that's only because I thought of a good song that I love that goes with it. So, coming to the real point, I download mostly Sailor Moon, and most of the Sailor Moon creators have girly names, so I naturally assume they are girls.
