This is a great thread.
From reading the comments guess I'm like everyone else. I like doing part of the job, but not all of it.
Personally I love scene selection and the edit .... ripping source footage and the final encode is a nightmare
Cheers

Re: You want to edit, yet don't want to edit?
Yup yup! I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes I really want to edit, but just don't have the time. And there's the times when I DO have free time, but don't feel like it. And there's those other times when I'm happily editing an AMV, then BAM! I get another awesome idea and give up on the first video. And then I come back to it in a few weeks and think, Nah, this seems so rubbish now...

*looks at his title* Yup, that pretty much sums it up. I've been working on a Haibane video for over 4 years now. More like I edited 70% of it and just haven't touched it since. I stopped most likely due to me going to school for video production and working with real footage. I've spent a lot of time editing, but not on AMVs. I would love to finish my current video, but I'm debating on finishing it up properly or just rushing it to be done. I don't want to start another project before this is done, but I don't want to be hindered by it. I should force myself to complete it before I go back to school in a couple weeks. I also need to catch up on watching AMVs, I've had a bookmark list of videos to download and it has gotten stupidly long.

uhhhh....learn the basics very much?Code wrote:I can't rip/collect fotoage without it looking like shit, so I don't like doing it.
But I love to edit. LOOOOOVE to edit. =)
I don't mind ripping or editing, I just can't edit unless I'm in the mood.

Re: You want to edit, yet don't want to edit?
I've been trying to crank out my Gunslinger Girl AMV since April, but whenever I feel like editing, I realize that I don't have the clips that I need. So then I go watch the DVDs and rip the scenes that I want, but by the time I finish, I no longer feel like editing. So a week later when I decide to resume, I realize that I either changed my mind about the scene, or that It just doesn't fit as well as I intended. So a week later, I start from square one again.
So far, I've canceled this amv 3 different times. This time, I'm determined to finish it by Momocon, but since the deadline is still a bit away, I spend too much time being idle. I've come to realize that unless i have a deadline, shit doesn't get done. The only reason why I mananged to complete my "Tears are from the heart" amv 2 weeks before AWA's Expo deadline is due to the fact that I was actually trying to make the Pro deadline which was about a month earlier.
So with this post, I've pretty much summed up all the reasons for my stagnant release history. My new years resolution is to change this.
