Hey, I saw that one, thought it was great. (Sorry, forgot I never left an op for it). In fact, it was one of the earlier ones I saw, and being new to AMV's, I thought to myself "holy cow, there were alot of scenes in that episode that just matched mouth movements perfect with that song".BishounenStalker wrote:And my latest video employs a combination of One Piece (of which there are only 23 vids in the database last I checked) and Don Karnage's little performance from TaleSpin. Which I don't think would've ever been used except by a twisted chick like me

I still think Omni, to some part, is being reasonable. Dropping LBZ as a scapegoat... I think there is reason to be concerned. There's not much you can do about that.
And honestly, making the thing pay-per-upload will not change the situation quality-wise. It will be more manageable for Phade, but it won't stop the inflow of poor-quality work. However, it will kind of kill some of the poor creators. Like myself. I'll certainly donate something sometime, but not when I'm $6000 in the hole and unemployed.
Also, think about this: the creators (usually) have to pay for their software, invest massive amounts of time, to get a totally free piece of work released to the often indifferent public. All downloaders have to do is sit there, leech the free vid, and enjoy.
Oh, I see, equitable distribution...
No, honestly, if you're gonna charge - at least charge everyone for crying out loud.

Well, now to stop the whining and tell everyone to behave:

Um, what? That might make sense if I had actually said something like that. And no, randomly insulting people because you think you're funny is not the same as being harsh on them because of legitimate reasons (oops, "legitimate" big word, must use small words with moron.)fyrtenheimer wrote:That wasn't what I was talking about.SarahtheBoring wrote:Go back to WOT, Fyrt, there's no reason for you to be in this forum.
And no, I am not an egomaniac, so I am not a hypocrite. Don't try to use big words if you don't know what they mean.
You're so quick to judge and say harsh things when you can't even take the heat yourself "People are sooo mean to me, boohoo.".
Who are you to jump down my fucking throat every time I say something you don't like? Grow up.Besides, who are you to tell me where to post?
I have no idea what you're babbling about. Just leave me the fuck alone. If you're mad about the time I stole your cookie, you need to get over it.

Well yeah you did. To yuppa of all people, and a couple others. So please. "Rachel is so fricken mean, how can you stand to be her friend?"
To be honest, I say things to other people just as much as some other people on this board. And why the hell are you trying to insult me by saying I don't know what words like legitimate and egomaniac, etc mean?
This is why I'm saying you're a hypocrite
And I don't 'jump down your throat' everytime you post something Sarah.
The cookie thing was a joke, that was pretty ...obvious.
I draw the line here, so 'reply' all you want.

Yeah boy I finally have a flame count... 8)
I'm ALSO VERY glad to see these new people showing up saying they know what they're doing, despite all these people who want to flame me due to misworded content... [then again, people are stupid so...]
It's not just Linkin' Bark [though it's easy to say just them at 90%] ALL bad amvs are starting to flood...
Besides, I made this thread to count the hopes for the future. They're all popping up thank goodness and they all have good spirits too. I also get to see the hopeless people wallowing in the mud and begging for attention since well, misery loves company. I for one am not miserable and I too for one do not need 10s type of opinions with nothing explained. Xanthrax and MJ style opinions with 2s and 1s fairly justified will suit me FAR better. 10s with big ops are good too. ^_^
I now see hope for the future in this thread and laugh at the unfortunate ones who don't...

Now I haven't read every reply in this thread, but I think I got the gist of it. I am 100% with MJ and Castor Troy on this one. Now you may not wanna come across the way you are Omni, but well...you are.
Now I too don't like watching bad videos and there are quite a few of them popping up, but as MJ said...who are we to judge them and to say that they shouldn't make them. They have every right to make these videos AND post them. This is a community and the server and linking is for all of us. There's no judging if it's worthy or not. As others have said, we also have the right NOT to download them yes?
Now I understand that what you are getting at is for n00bs to bypass these bad videos and well learn quicker right? I hate to say it, but...they have the right to make bad videos yes? At the same time, it's great that you want to help, but...basically the way you are phrasing it is coming across VERY badly.
As MJ and Castor have said, as long as they had fun, I don't care if it's horrible...it's still a success. The "goal" of an AMV (to me at least) is to have fun. If one accomplishes this then who are we to tell them not to have fun?
Basically what you're coming across as is that all videos should be "good" and should be accepted by the community as "good." I hate to break it to you, but not everyone wants to make a "great" video and win contests. Some (hopefully most) people just wanna have fun and if the video isn't great...who cares?
If you want me to get mathematical, it is statistically impossible that all the videos (or even a majority or...half) can be "good." As I have said in other threads, people have an inherent amount of talent (which I might add is generally with the SMALL minority) and thus some just CANNOT create a "good" video (again I hate using that word, but I hope you know what I mean in terms of the community, contests and scores) since they lack the creativity or technical skills (which generally can be learned).
So in essence, your "crusade" cannot be accomplished and is impossible. At the same time, it doesn't mean we shouldn't help and I applaud you for trying, but I suggest wording it differently and being a little more open.

Why do we post? Just like you said...so we can find out what others think and to share our work. No one forces anyone to watch a video and at the same time those people have every right to post and make them.Omnistrata wrote:Hmm, NDW, if you DON'T CARE about what people think about your amvs or don't give a shit about "the good" amvs and that "NDW's VIDS are the best and nobody can beat them, BEST AMVS EVAAARR", then uh...
*long pause...
Why post them here on the org where everyone can voice their thoughts on it?
