The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

In the year 2525, if man is still alive....

This site will have as many AMVs as deviantART has deviations, Phade will have some really large hard drives to hold all those AMVs, and there will be a profile section where people can automatically filter out videos containing selected songs and anime from their search results - while automatically posting "all ___ vids suck" posts in the forums at random intervals in random threads.

Microsoft will fold. Apple will still have the same 10% of the market they've had for years. Sun will be the great controlling monopoly of all computer and will, along with Macromedia and Adobe, redesign the internet as a strange amalgamation of Java 5 Ultra Enterprise Edition, Flask MXC, and PDF X-Stream. All anime will finally be compressed in vector-format files that fill 50MB of audio-dominated space per hour of footage on 200 Terabyte hard drives, but AMV editors will still have to convert it all to HuffYUV using some illegal but commonly available and generally ignored encryption workaround from the people who came up with DeCSS.

A subsection of forum-lurkers will still be typing almost entirely in a mix of Japanglish and 1337.

Three more Dragonball series will be realeased, along with an album of remixes of covers of remixes of Linkin Park songs, and people will still be fighting over whether LinkinBall videos are worthy of an audience. They still will, however, have an audience.

I'll still be making AMVs, but with original animation and music. People will continue to not like them because they will continue have neither in-your-face comedy nor extensive flashy effects.

Evanescence will have vanished like a vaporous mist, and there will be no surviving Beatles - but people will still listen to the Beetles' music.

40 years from now I will add a new post to this long dead thread.

CaTaCiSyM, right after he finishes the #1 AMV of all time, will add yet one more post flaming my post.

Windows Movie Maker 4 will feature a "drop, hack, and rearrange" tool. VID will be the container of choice for many.
USB drives will have become as affordable as CD-Rs.
The donut will be become stale and thus become a bagel, or mouldy.
The average age for "org members" will dive to 7.
