Alright I know I'm a total newbie and the only one here that REALLY knows me is Machine from MindWarpET. Most of the vid's that I've downloaded and have seen / kept on a CD for my viewing pleasure I've seen with like a lot of reviews... so I didn't start to write reviews when I was a fan.
But now that I'm actually getting into making AMV's, I'm actually concerned in reviewing and trying to give an honest and fair opinion on AMV's. I've also made it a rule not to compare two vid's that are of a different type, like what some people have had to try and have me do.
Maybe it's just my newbie-ness in all of this, but I do know that I've seen some kick-ass AMV's that do deserve a 10 in some places, but I still really haven't seen an AMV that deserve's a 10 all the way through. If there is such an AMV out there... I would love to see it. ^_^
I personally don't know who this EK is... but if this here has really gotten into a contest of "who can make the greatest AMV" instead of "It's an art and a way to express myself" then AMV's aren't what I thought that they are. -_-

Heh, god damn this community is selfish. All he did was explain what was wrong with AMV Org (All of which I agreed with) and you jump all over him. If you don't care that he's leaving then why are you posting about it?

Alright well... I'm really kinda new to this site. I only have a couple of videos out, and I'm just hanging out for the time being... 8)
But I will try to put my two cents in on this matter. Is it just me, or does the entire a-m-v.org community just seem like one big, hostile feud sometimes? When I visit sites like this, (I'm a long time member and visitor of fanfiction.net, and I've made many *wonderful* friends there) I would like it to be a positive experience.
I dunno, it just seems like most people here are all for the taking as opposed to the giving. I really do prefer the giving aspect; it includes everything from giving well rounded opinions when you download a person's video to being helpful in the forum if someone needs assistance.
As for the posts at the beginning of this thread, I agree completely. Only video creators should have the right to give in depth reviews to videos. I've just seen one too many fan opinions giving perfect tens... heck, I've even got a couple of them myself, and I KNOW that I'm not deserving of it. We all want to improve our videos in the future, not grovel in unwarranted praise... right?
Of course, I'm certainly not trying to offend anyone at all, but those are my personal, very heartfelt thoughts about this community thus far.

Obviously I can't speak on behalf of everyone but I've genuinely made some great friends here.
I tend to find that the bitterness in the org is very particular - one person doesn't like this person, someone thinks that this video is better than this etc. but there's a lot of very positive friendships that you might not see at first.
It's an odd community this one but I think there are some very good aspects as well.
I think the most important thing is to not get bothered about personal disputes. There's always going to be people who have a problem with something - especially when competition is involved - but it's easy to ignore and it shouldn't detract from the experience as a whole because I think most people find video making, contest entering, and amv chatting to be quite an enjoyable pastime.

Guys like Orion are new on the AMV scene and for the newbies still coming on board, I want to at least be able to show some of them that making AMVs can be fun as hell but can be a very powerful tool when expressing yourself as well as trying to get a message across to the audiences.
Hey Jen, instead of shaking your head, why not try and think about what Joe and I and so many others are trying to explain about AMVs. They can be fun as hell to make.
But there are some of us who like to give an artistic message to those people out there to show them hidden meanings within the anime sometimes with life itself.
