Besides, they're far more visible and thus far more likely to be hit. Additionally, they're commercial and we're not.
We'll agree to disagree. Let's hope there's never a situation that tests which one of us is right. |:

So it looks like <a href="http://news.zdnet.com/2100-9588_22-6095 ... ">somebody finally sued them.</a>
The Article wrote:Robert Tur says video he shot of the beating of trucker Reginald Denny during the 1992 Los Angeles riots was posted at YouTube without his permission and viewed more than 1,000 times. Tur says in his lawsuit, filed Friday in U.S. District Court, that YouTube is profiting from his work while hurting his ability to license his video.

I think that's the main difference between us. I'm not 100% positive on this, but I believe since videos require registration here we have a degree of defense against saying that we're distributing videos. We're selective about who can see what's here, and they're not, anyone can get at it. I think the best thing we can do to avoid legal trouble is what we're doing now and try not to draw attention to ourselves and ask for trouble.

A trained monkey could sign up for an 'Org account - about 75% of the New Vids On the Block (not to mention what gets posted to this forum) are proof enough of that.

The thing I like about that site, is the fact that its streaming and people can not download your movies, and if you turn the embedding feature off they can't embed them either, most people complain about waiting on downloads, at least from my experience, and too, if people can download your movies they can save them and reuse them, and that is how they steal other people's movies. I preffer streaming for the easy access and the fact they can not be downloaded

just so you know there are tricks to downloading from the tube, so the "streaming" factor wont save you from that though anyone dumb enough to use footage that was ripped from the tube deserves to get chewed out for their really super poor video quality...

in truth i ask people for a coppy of their vid if i like it, i HATE having to be online just to see a favorite vid... and I also like to put some of them on my ipod... if they are on the tube i cant put them on my ipod with good ql :P
