Also to mention that people have to go with the future so there has to be at least an XviD codec on a computer system.

Hell... If people want to read an pdf they install Acrobat Reader. Why should it be different for other stuff? Downloading VLC isn´t complicated!

I agree with godix  You need to download some of software for sure to use Utoob, besides,if I remember correctly, I'm not sure if there is a possibility to download video to your pc... :? And even if ya are able to download, will ya enjoy having WMV3 320x240 quality vid? And I won't even start to talk about sound... Of course, there is a better quality videos, but look at those lazyasses, who can't even try a little to at least crop out the subs...

The point is,that Utoob is sure useful as video footage storage, and it's good for re-viewing video online, BUT - it's not suited for AMV's at all! The thing is,that we're not talking about funny home vids, but about AnimeMusicVideos . For me,to enjoy video,is enough to have a good idea, and a nice mood, but - if that video do not posess a good quality (video or sound) , then I just delete it after watching, and ask to upload a better output version.

But when it comes to Utoob , all what will those "noobs" say, will be like - 'Oh,this is the best output i could get, besides, other Utoob members says it's okay,so I think it's okay too.' Well,I'm not satisfied with that kind of answer...

I really don't like, that people are linkin' to Utoob, instead of just uploadin' a better quality video here. :?
:D I like laughter ;DD

What the fuck are you babbling about? You have no choice but to use their custom video player, just try getting WMP or winamp or VLC or whatever player you prefer to show a tube video. You do have to download and install software for the tube, IE and Firefox can not play their videos without some sort of pluging having been installed. If we're going to debate the merits of the tube (which is a vastly overdone debate but whatever) then can we at least deal with reality instead of whatever lala land fantasy you want the tube to be?
But once you download that one plug-in, you're set and can watch all videos on the tube. Here, there's not one format that's used all across the board, so it's a bit more work. Their audience is almost always guaranteed to see their video (even if it is bad quality) over someone downloading one of ours, an mp4 for example, and not understanding how to play it. If you can't play it, the video quality doesn't make a difference.

I think that tube AMVers are just trying to be a part of our community, granted they're not doing it "our" way, but that's no reason to call murder on every one of them when they want to share their videos. "Hey, quick guys, there's another thread, let's get 'em."

No. The code is configured to block any DIRECT or indirect links to that site from being added.

I'm not one of the video gurus but from what I understand VLC player is pretty close to a one download solution for any video on the org. If not VLC then CCCP will cover almost everything you need in a single download. For a user standpoint neither method is really more difficult than installing plugins to your browser although from a technical standpoint there is a vast different in what they're doing to the computer.

As I said before, if they learned enough about the site to post their announcement to the correct forum then I'm happy. If they post it to general AMV, which a lot of them are, then they deserve being flamed.

I guess you should also consider the positiv sides of Utoob. It has brought a lot of popularity to the AMV making community and every day people start of doing their own first amv's getting informed about certain programs (e.g. sony vegas) and even are linked to this awesome place^^ So without youtube the Org wouldn't be as big as it is today... That's just a thought

Blame me ^^ my first video footage was downloaded from youtube...

you see popularity has its costs..

take wind-up records for an example.. our popularity caused a C&D order that blocked SEVERAL Evenescence Seether and Creed videos from being hosted locally or allowed links... and now the ones with the know always end up having to answer the "what the heck?" and "where did my video go?" questions.

and i bet without the tube site this site would still be thriving... there were over 18000 members when i joined 3 years ago and its been doing quite fine on its own, imo. so trying to say that the org owes the tube anything is rediculous...

but i do agree that the tube people do owe the org to atleast play by our rules when they come here, cause most of us play by thiers when we go there.

At least I do owe Utoob a lot for getting me here.

Considering this site was about creating a catalog of amv's and links to as many places as possible to down them, it seems stupid of us to exclude anyone, even if all they offer is low quality off-sync embedded video.

Make it an indirect link and lock amv announcement threads that don't list the video profile. Banning a certain hosting option seem pretty weak sauce to me.
