I'm thinking (since the title of the thread has "Here" in it) that he is refering to just the org or AMV community. For instance, Phade is treated like a rockstar at AD, with cries of "I love you Phade" from the fan girls in the audance.AtomX wrote:

Well... I can't really say that much, since I'm not exactly popular around here. However, I do think that making a good AMV, coordinating a successful project, and personality seems to make some fine attactions around here. Also, although I've never been to one, going to conventions and getting seen by other members is a good way! Oh, and helping out others with technical stuff is nice as well.

But if you showed up to a con at the editor's shindig and went "hey guys, what's going on, I'm [name] and I did [vids]" people might go "Oh, yea! That guy!" That's kinda how it was for me...even though at the time I only had one section in a mep to my credit.Well... I can't really say that much, since I'm not exactly popular around here.
And, after talking with people, they later started asking what I was working on, so I was motivated to finish it.

That was basically my reaction. But others can't see how many downloads a video has, just it's number of hits. Which brings to mind another method of gaining semi-fame.
