What think your friends and family of amvs?

My father refers to anime as 'That Chinese shit you and your brother watch' And after receiving a trophy in the mail my mother was curious so I showed her one of my brothers videos and one of my own, to which she declared "You both need therapy"

My brother on the other hand has always taken an active interest in everything I was interested in, unfortunately for me he has always been better at everything then I was. So when I would take an interest in anything be it guitars, anime amvs he would always take my interest and take it to the next level to one up me in it. I dont take this as intentional, I think hes just naturally better at his artistic endeavors then I am, and I enjoy sharing my passions with someone else, so while he might be better at the editing then I am I dont think he shares the same passion as I do, but hes a great person to run ideas through and make him watch whatever im working on at the moment to get advice. My brother has a learning disability that makes it practically impossible for him to be able to keep up with a forum with out my supervision, so while he might be interested and partake in the hobby, the online community will always be outside his grasp.

My friends don't really care what I do, though they dont share the same interests as me which has always been a bummer seeing as how I never have anyone to go to cons with. The few I have shown videos of mine reactions have been the same 'heh cool' regardless of what pos I was showing them at the time, cant blame then though, they were just trying to be supportive and dont really understand it.

The point of this topic seems kinda moot... since the point of the org is to share your videos with people who actually care (read: want to see them). If everyone around you loved your videos you probably wouldnt be looking online for acceptance (besides beowulf & wonka their family seems amazing

).

It's kinda like the whole online dating thing... but not.

I'm too chicken shit to share it with them lol. but as far as if it bothers them of my parents, not really... my dad lets me do whatever I need to do and my mom doesn't mind. I also see my brother alot who just thinks (with obvious REASON :/) I'm a dork lol. He likes amvs, when their obviously really good, he just hates MY amvs lol. oh well.

I try to discourage my friends and what not from editing though they know I edit [or rather, used to]

Only fools with too much time in their hands ever edit. Especially those who only know dancey fx and can't edit a serious video if their lives depended on it...

Almost all my friends are anime fans and they all really love AMVs (a few moreso than cosplay). So it's all good there.

My family either is totally indifferent or only care when I use music they really like and that's just because they want to see something done to their choices in music.

My mom has been supportive, but you can tell she doesn't even know what is going on when she watches any type of AMV. My second oldest sister HATES amvs with a passion(SHUN!!

), even though she has film interests of her own, thus hates me for it. My eldest sister is just awsome about everything and is very supportive out of my family =D

I actually have two friends who have started to try out editing because they thought it looked cool. Then those loving Otaku friends of mine spaz out each time I show them something I edit. Most others are just "oh thats cool..i guess?"
