Yeah, let's all make the same kind of video. Let's all just put up our videos to become number one. Let's all try to make the best video. Critics are fine, whatever. But I think most people have lost the meaning of all this in the first place. And other people take all the fun out of it. Man, if I were to do something like this it'd be branded some sort of 'trolling' of mine.

What the fuck are you talking about?

True everyone has a diffrent opinion, but most people dont stop to think, that sometimes people have fun being number 1, if it makes them happy to win, then damnit, let him. I'm not stoping anyone from trying, Infact I gotta admit I'd like to see people get alot of enjoy ment outta my videos.

You're crazy. I think people like critasiem, I know I do when it comes to my videos, I like to know whats wrong with them, so that next time I can improve.

And maybe one day. Become really good so people like my videos and get a smile when they watch them.
Uh yeah that's great. But if that's you're only purpose then why the fuck are you here. You obviously didn't get nething I posted.

I have one Simple request, and that is to have SHARKS WITH FRIKKIN LASERBEAMS ATTACHED TO THEIR HEADS!

trythil, with all due respect, you have never been in that situation, and I can't see how you could understand.

Moving right along.
I didn't think you'd be so worried about other people's opinions. ^_^; Just make what you like. Invite the people you think might enjoy the vid to watch - and ingore the rest.
Yes, this is yet another reason to stop distributing, which I'd planned to do anyway. (Distro only by AIM, by request.)

Thing is, I'm not rude. I can't ignore people if they op something of mine. I have to read it and I have to reply. I feel like a grade-A asshole if I don't. So yeah, I have to pay attention to everyone, because they bothered to download my stupid video in the first place.

But the idea of saying fuck it all, no distribution except by request is indeed looking better by the second.

And whoever said pros have MORE pressure - Uh, like what? Keep in mind that they have higher abilities, so you have to keep everything in proportion.

Public to good editor: "Make a great video. Now."
Good editor: "Dude, wait until after lunch. I have six lined up. Chill."

Public to shit editor: "Make a great video. Now."
Shit editor: "Um... I can't."
Public to shit editor: "Worthless idiot."

FUN! Wait, no, this is Art. Tears of blood. Got it.

That is awful jaded. :| I honestly don't understand the mindset of having to live up to other people's expectations of your videos. The only person you ever have to please is yourself. If other people don't get it....meh. :\

This comment is creamtastic, and I throughly agree with it.

Grow a thicker skin, and start having fun. You're doing this for yourself aren't you? If you're not, this would bother you, but since you are, everything you just said was a giant joke right?

To address you pro's thing, don't you think koop has alot of pressure on him to top Euphoria? I don't like Eminem as a general thing, but he makes a valid point in one of his songs. The lyric goes something like this: "I won't ever be able to top what 'My Name Is'". In every artist, there is a focal point. A "Master-Work" if you will, something the artist will be remembered for. It's like tasting the finest wine, and then trying forever to return to the point of amazement and pleasure it brang the first time you tried it.

I'm sorry I'm rambling, but I believe I brought up some valid points in my argument.

Oh, we can't have that. AD might get angry.

That's the way it should be, but not always the way it is.
I see it the way you see it MJ; the first person I'm making AMVs for? Me. Everyone else comes second. If they like my videos, then hooray. If not, good for them.

Thing is that there's almost always another side of the coin. For every 10 people out there that make AMVs because they enjoy doing it...art....creating...blahblahblah, there's at least one person who's doing it because they feel driven to create something that everyone will love to death. Almost everyone here can probably name someone who makes AMVs just to win awards, or win at cons, and for no other reason.

It's sad, but it happens, and those are the people who care more about other people's expectations than anything else.

There's a lot in this thread that has me divided though...

On one level I can see what Fyrt and a lot of other peple are saying: Technical stuff isn't as important as having fun with what you're doing. Just because someone doesn't step onto the scene knowing all the ups and downs of video making, doesn't mean that they shouldn't be allowed to experiment and grow as a creator. We don't need to step on people (I'm not saying this is what AD did, mind you), because at one point we were all beginners, and we didn't know everything either. We should try and help other creators along through reviews, and opinions, and contacting them to give feedback, and the other systems that are available to us here.

But on the other level I can see what AD was trying to say when he started this:
There could be a lot more enjoyable videos out there if some creators just did some very basic things (like subtitle removal).
They have the tools at their disposal (the guides), and a place and people to ask (the forums, chatroom, and the org's members), so there's no reason why these things shouldn't be done, and it's a shame.
I, personally, know that there are plenty of members here that use digi-subs, or have used digi-subs. It's not the fact that they are, 'using downloaded footage, bad bad people, ban them now!11!'. It's the fact that they care enough about what they're making to remove subtitles and such.

Removing subtitles and other basic stuff shouldn't take the fun out of AMV making, because it's all part of the process. And ultimately it makes your video more appealing, with less distractions from what you had fun making. Learning how to improve in style and execution, concepts and technical prowess is what makes this fun.

You're doing this for fun? Great, so am I. But if you're doing something for fun, don't you take a little pride in how what you make comes out? Why would you half-ass something that you care about?
Everyone is not the same as you.
Get over it.
And lighten up.
