Ugh, reel-to-reel...
I remember we had to learn to splice tape in college. I swear, I could edit faster with GoldWave today (probably including capture time) than I could with a pre-recorded reel-to-reel tape.
Or are you talking about 1-inch videotape? 'Cos we still have a few of those at the station, for promos, commercials and such.

Yeah, it was for video tape. They don't actually use it though. It was just sadly sitting in the tape library...will it probably will remain for the rest of time.
Actually, WOUB is quite updated. When I worked, there was a Pinnacle system running all the spots and even some marathons. HUGE harddrive. I also saw my first true HDTV on a real hdtv signal and Tivo there before they were widely marketed to consumers.

Does anyone else have a hard time believing this is for real? I mean, nothing, and all of a sudden you create an account an post 3 messages? I'm sorry, I just tend to be exceptionally gullible.Kevin~Caldwell wrote:[stuff]

The thing I find funny is that people worship Kevin based on his last 4 videos, you never hear a word about the first 8! I know several creators who have less than 8 videos and already have amazing things. Kevin caldwell made a few good videos, true, a lot of people do aswel ... broaden your taste people.
BTW. A good "excuse" for his first videos not being that great was that most of them were done on dual-VCR, so don't start cussing me about that, I KNOW...

I cut my teeth using a hot plate - burned off my fingertips. Then I moved to a Moviola, then to a Steinbeck - how's that for fossilization? Then again, I'm still quite young, so I suppose my point isn't valid in the least... oh well! I don't really have a point anyway. Regardless, try talking with people about six plate editing procedure! Gah, sometimes I just want to cry...RichLather wrote:
Psssh... I edit linearly with Betacam SP 5 days--wait, in December it's mostly 6 days--a week!
You wanna be a fossil, mention U-Matic (3/4") as your editing media of choice.
