AMV Editing: A dying hobby (?)

Favoritism is real. It's not much about being a foreign, it's more as SQ said. Having friends here.
The only other way to get some replies is making a really cool video, beyond the average, like Umika or Galia&Kitty do. In any other ways, you'll be a nobody here.
But I also agree with Farm: if you want attention, you have to try to make people know about you at least.

I think favoritism is not the real problem here as I said.
It's very common and you WILL HAVE favoritism everywhere,

Interesting how this conversation is progressing.

In terms of this whole favoritism thing, I think most people forget that they sometimes just need to do some campaigning on themselves. Even if you don't get people's attention the first time, you just need to be persistent and eventually you will have success. I'm not really phased by any sort of elitism, favoritism or any of that stuff. Since if you have enough motivation, determination and good material; people will eventually be drawn to you. Lurking on the forum a bit, interacting with others and eventually submerging yourself into the community will allow for that.

I remember the 2007-era myself as a fond memory where there were many types of skype convo's, interactions on the forum and across youtube through the different editors I knew. However, as with everything, times change.

For both the site, alternative AMV places and ALL editors: you either adapt to your new surroundings as things die, or die. It's about as simple as that in my mind.

At least, for those trying to get opinions/views. If you still do this because you GENUINELY enjoy it and don't care about that, then just keep doing what you are doing. But obviously, if you keep repeating the same thing and getting the same results, it's time to try something new, experiment and see what gets you interaction, views and people liking your stuff. I haven't put in the full amount of effort here/my youtube, but I've still noticed from the work I have been put in a sustainable amount of feedback, coverage and views since the past few weeks I've started to get back into editing and it's helping me get back on my feet after being out so long.

With that said, people should also make use of ALL tools at their disposal to really share this. Rather it be youtube, tumblr, the org, AMVnews or whatever other outlet you can find. It's all about taking advantage of anything you can get your hands on in my book.

But yeah i wasnt trying to say editors from other countries when i said foreign, thats why i used ¨¨ <--- these things, it wasnt literally, but some ppl got my point i think. Ande yeah i agree with Farm and diegao as well, ¨you have to try to make people know about you at least.¨

But i agree with SQ about the favoritism thing, and ofc i really like the idea of the new re-design but it wont solve this problem, is like trying to paint a broken chair, it will look cool, but its still broken.

Yes but I think the reasons of why is dying are different, but
in the end. lack of motivation because the administrator is
absolute and he doesn't take most of the ideas of the other
admin./moderators that got bored of that and they left.
But the applications and variety of sections are a really cool
thing that could work in forums of today

But it will help. Just a little but still is a step. And is a step
that administration should take!

As I said, favoritism is everywhere. How can you solve it?
Insist and be persistent, as Frostreturns and I said.

What I want to say is: Guys, being so pessimist about it
doesn't help. We don't know if it's not tried. And if there's
people who can take this site and change it, is our duty
as users, community and friends support him/her/them.

A site is a site thanks to the people that keeps it alive, these are all the people. It doesn't matter whether people that in the past were active and now they can't due real life stuff, at the end people comes and leaves, new and old. We can't really blame anyone for this situation cause at the end, we're all the org, not just the administrator nor moderators

I just want to make it clear that I don't think favoritism is the central issue here, I think it is an issue that, combined with all the other issues I mentioned, makes it harder to enjoy/use the site. It's the combination of everything that over time contributes to the lack of new members here, I believe.
