<<Problematic Girl>> --Limited Time Only!--
Well, ever since my best friend and I traded versions of Dance Dance Revolution, I've acquired a whole slew of music for possible idea suggestions! By the way, her version is REALLY easy compared to mine; even she keeps saying it! Anywho...
CPFuller - of course I'll download your next video! I wouldn't miss it. Just post again when you finish, if only to give me the link. Hey, thanks for those anime description/review thingys. It's always nice to have a second (or third, or seventy-ninth) opinion on an anime - especially if I'm going to purchase it! Anime isn't exactly cheap... Oh, and I nearly always give responses like that. I believe in giving as much feedback as possible. Of course, this is the reason why I don't give a lot of reviews. They're just WAY TOO LONG. I tend to do play-by-play reviews - meaning, I review videos in sections of generally no more than 30 seconds; much of the time it's a comment about every five to fifteen seconds. I'll do this for entire video. It's a very time-consuming process for me, taking upwards of two hours usually, during which I tend to watch the video roughly five to ten times, pausing when necessary. So, you can see why I don't give out many reviews! Maybe I'm just long-winded, but people seem to appreciate it. So, it's worth it in the end. ^_^
odian0 - hm...I thought about it for a while, but I can't really think of any good songs for the Blood video. That's been one of the more difficult anime for me to come with ideas for. But hey, I said it would be a challenge - I wasn't sure if anyone COULD make a really GOOD video to it. Also, no one has taken up any of my ideas, nor have they made any videos to any of the anime I have listed (well, 'cept maybe Yokou Seishirou, but it's my understanding that s/he was working on that video before s/he discovered my thread), so you're safe to do as you please with your idea. So, I guess the only thing I can really say is good luck, and I hope someone can help you out with a song.
Just one last thing, and ya'll know what it is! My suggestions, of course... Like I said in a previous post, I haven't typed up any more of my DDR music ideas, so I got some other ones to replace them for now. I think, though, that any Angelic Layer fans will appreciate the first idea. Also...
WARNING! SOME OF THESE IDEAS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM THE SERIES, SO IF YOU SEE AN ANIME YOU DON'T KNOW HERE AND DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN LIKE THE 'ICE MACHINE' HAD JUST BEEN CALLED UPON TO 'DISPOSE' OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
Angelic Layer – Nine Inch Nails – “And All That Could Have Been” – Jounouchi Sai, Rin (her sister,) possibly Kaede – I see this as a VERY depressing Sai profile, depicting how she was before Rin’s death and how she became so cold afterwards. There isn’t a lot of footage of this story in the series (only two episodes, somewhere in the 20s, I think,) but the song is so perfect for Sai’s situation that I couldn’t pass this up. The song will likely have to be cut down because it is fairly long (6:13, to be precise.) By the way, if you’re wondering why I said ‘possibly Kaede,’ refer to the 2nd half of the 2nd verse of the song that states
“I know you tried to rescue me
Didn’t let anyone get in
Left with a trace of all that was
And all that could have been”
That seems like a good verse to put Kaede in, no? Also, I think that Kaede and Sai’s friendship has a lot to do with why Sai didn’t just ‘shut down’ after Rin’s death, so she deserves a part in this video too. This song is sad and beautiful, just like the story I want it to represent. Do it justice, alrighty? Also, I absolutely promise a long, in-depth review to anyone who tries this idea and shows me the results!
Any Anime - Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly – “Chou” – anyone who has played the game knows that this is a VERY depressing song. I know I’ve said this countless times now, but I really do LOVE this song. It’s not just sad; it’s beautiful. I guess that I would like to see whatever your interpretation is on this one. While I won’t guarantee one, I think I would review a video to this song. I guess it depends on the anime used.
Um.... <_< ...... >_> ....... v_v ........... *insert witty conclusion here*

Probably hasn't been mentioned yet, as I'm kind of erratic in my appearances, but if it hasn't, then check out my first vid: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=23219
It's got Misato in it, yes, but it's about her and Kaji, and avoids the mainstream characters as much as possible. Also, if you're looking to get out from under the Linkin Park/Evanescense/Nu Metal vids, you'll appreciate the Blue Oyster Cult track (It's done to BOC's "Don't Fear the Reaper").

i think i found a decent song in Zero 7's "waiting line." it's a four minute song, so i might cut the song short.... is that an acceptable thing to do, or should i try for the full song? well, at any rate, the video is gonna be for the school nurse. oh, and i was wondering if it was okay to use a few clips of the main character if i still focus on the nurse. i mean, it's really hard not to. so i guess my questions are:
1. can i cut the song short and still have a good video?
2. can i use any clips of the main character at all and still qualify for this challenege?
3. what is the nurse's name?
well, that's all for now.....

AM-3P is E-V-I-L!
Um, yeah...ignore the subject line. I have a personal vendetta against that song. Well, I wanted to follow up on some responses, so here they are!
Kaji01 - you know, for a first video, that's an innovative concept. Most people just go for the 'random clip' + 'random music' approach on their first video. I know I did! Anyway, I enjoyed your video. That's pretty impressive for a first shot. If I were judging it by my guidelines, had it been made for that purpose, it would probably get a 6.5/10. Okay, that doesn't sound that great, but here is my reasoning: the video quality could have stood to be better, first off. It wasn't horrible by any means, but it was...jumpy - and that's likely due to the fact that you saved it as a .wmv, which aren't notorious for playing perfectly. Also, you said that it was about Kaji, but he only appeared for about half of the video. The rest was a seemingly random array of characters - of course, I could tell whenever you were doing lyrical match-up - so that was good. Mostly though, I gave it the lower score because it just didn't make me feel anything. I didn't get that "wow, that rocked" effect. You know what I mean? Like I said, though, that was really great for a first attempt and I applaud your video for being ahead of the game, unlike most other people's first videos. Great job, and keep AMV-ing!
odian0 - you know, that song is perfect. I figured that Blood would be the most difficult of all of the anime I listed to use for a side character video, but you've nailed it perfectly! I didn't even think anyone would want to use Blood for this, honestly. As for your questions...
1. Actually, after listening to that song, I think cutting it short would be the best thing. First of all, footage of the nurse isn't very plentiful, considering your using a 50 minute movie. Secondly, it is a very mellow song. The movie, in my opinion, had pretty dramatic changes between mellow and violent - about half and half of each. I just can't see using a lot of raging action with a song like that, so it'll be doubly challenging with only roughly half as much appropriate footage available. So, in a roundabout way, the answer to this question is yes - go ahead and cut the song short. In fact, I suggest it. Honestly, I'd rather have you do a two minute, awesome video, than do a four minute, craptacular video.
2. In this case, I would allow a few scenes of Saya. Like I said, footage of the nurse isn't in high abundance, and she's with Saya in half of the scenes. Just try to keep it to a minimum, alrighty?
3. Hmm...I did some site-searching, but I couldn't find the nurse's name anywhere. You know, though, I'm almost positive she was called SOMETHING. I just don't remember what. Yeah...at the beginning of the movie, when Saya is introduced to the principal, the nurse is there. Someone speaks to her in that part, and I THOUGHT he said her name. I can't remember for sure. You could check that part...?
I've got nothin' else right now, so I'll just speak in suggestions! Also...
WARNING! SOME OF THESE IDEAS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM THE SERIES, SO IF YOU SEE AN ANIME YOU DON'T KNOW HERE AND DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN OR I'LL MAKE MOE TURN EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
X, possibly Tokyo Babylon - Orgy – “Blue Monday” – Seishirou and Subaru – okay, I’m going to get kicked for this, but I really DO think that this song works well for them – particularly if it is told from Subaru’s point of view. It could be all about how Seishirou mistreats Subaru constantly. The song really speaks for itself, so that’s all I have!
Love Hina - Spice Girls – “Goodbye” – Moe (that's 'mo-ae!'), Shinobu, Kaolla – well, I’ll start by saying that although she only had one episode in the series (#20,) Moe was my favorite character. She was so cute! It was the only episode in the whole series that got me semi-emotional, and for that, she deserves a video. As for the other two, Shinobu just seemed to fit this song with her angsty (but highly adorable) personality. Kaora might not seem to fit, but if you remember the episode(s) where she was going to get married and become an adult, then you’d notice that she has her angsty moments, too. I was thinking of suggesting Motoko as well, but I don’t really know if she truly fits the whole “you’re leaving, we love you” sort of nature of the song. The same thing goes for Mei (Naru's little sister.) It's your desicion, though!
I've spent entirely too much time on this post, so...

Yeah, I was learning a lot of things during my first two videos. If you're looking for more of that rocked sort of feeling you'll probably enjoy my Number of the Beast video, which is more of a Unit-01 focus. The video uses the same source footage as the other, one of these days I'll get to redoing them, hopefully (I've learned a lot about keeping the quality up since then, but I haven't been able to flesh out any ideas enough to complete a video, bit of an editor's block. Hopefully that'll break sometime soon, though)

I find that every amv can be a learning experience. ^_^ And if you your amv's can not teach you something about yourself, why keep going?
Making an amv, is rather like being the director of a Broadway show, where you have a million dancers and each of them only knows one step.

try healing vision angelic mix or the legend of maxx
All right.. time to jump on the bandwagon!
Firstly, I can really relate to your situation. I too have neither the means, the knowledge, nor the motivation to make my own vid. great job on keeping the thread alive, it seems to have become quite popular.. maybe i'll get popular by posting here. I personally can have a 1 sided conversation with myself on my FFXI linkshell in the wee hours of the morning for a looooong time.
Secondly, i am a big DDR fan.. i think everyone should at least try the game. It's the best thing since ramen.
Thirdly, onwards to metal gear-> I am huge metal gear solid fan. MGS 3 is official the first game I have ever owned the first day it came out.. I had made a post about how i want to see a MGS vid to "Meant to Live" by switchfoot.. but i guess i just didn't do it right, cause it wasn't viewed much. Anyway, your side sharacter shallenge has thrown my midn into chaos. A MGS vid without snake/raiden in my mind would be a great challenge. Normally i can think of 5 or 6 songs to accompy MGs.. but when i think of the side characters i just come up with blanks.
...gimme a few minutes.
okay. here's 1 thought. the very first part of "Take Me Out" by franz ferdinand kinda reminds me of the relationship between snake and ninja. ( everytime i hear the line "you leave me broken, shattered, a lie" i see ninja getting crushed by REX.. i dunno if it could be done, just a thought..
"Take me out" also kinda reminds me of fortune, as she is looking for death. The song is obscure more than having a very strong point, so that's kinda why i get those ideas..
Every time i hear "They" by Jem.. i think of the patriots.. not enough footage to make a vid tho, but it would be nice if someone could find a good anime to match the song.. i know there r already a few vids out there already.
Lastly, (it's the end already?) I don't think it would be a huge challenge, but since there r so many side character romances, it would be cool to see a big compilation of them to "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" by The Darkness. My friend has that song as his cell phone ringtone.. and he got it stuck in my head. not that i hate him for it, it's an awesome song.
I'd love to know what everyone thinks of my ideas, so please tell me..

Ack! No time!
Um, I don't have much time at the moment, so I may end up double-posting. All I'm going to do now is respond to Kaji01 before I get rid of the video (no offense, I just have EXTREMELY limited memory on my computer.) So...
Kaji01 - I watched your "Number of the Beast" video, and I wanted to say that, editing-wise, it was a definite step up from your "Don't Fear the Reaper" video. You said you were "learning a lot of things during my first two videos," and I will tell you that it has paid off. You're surely getting better. I'd love to see your work a few more videos down the line, when you're really comfortable with the editing. You know, when you said that your video was about Unit 01, I have to admit, I was thinking "Oh great. Another mindless action video." Well, you proved me wrong and thank you for that. Although it did have action sequences, you seemed to focus on what Unit 01 IS, more than what it can do. Above all, I enjoyed your video and I thank you for submitting your first and suggesting the second. If you have anything else to add to my challenge, check back, alrighty? I'd really appreciate it!

the blood the last vampire video is taking a strange turn. it seems i've strayed from the path and using a few more clips of the main character then i think i should have. but i've decided to remake the movie from the nurse's perspective. it's a sequential look at the movie omitting anything that has nothing to do with the nurse. so only environmental shots and senes that the nurse is a part of is in there. it's kinda neat right now.... but i don't know how much side character it'll count for.... well, guess i'll have to wait and see how it finishes.

Okay, not in such a rush now...
Now that my time is slightly less constrained, I can post again without hurrying. Um, I'll skip any witty intros this time, I think.
Laz_the_white - well, welcome to my bandwagon. I think I'll tackle your comments sequentially. Actually, I never thought my post would get as much recognition as it has. I figured I'd get a few kind souls who would say "hey, nice idea," go back to what they were doing, and that would be the end of that. Oh, and I know how to make AMVs; I just can't do it the way that this website encourages. So, I guess it's a good thing that I'm too stupid to understand the uploading process. I'll leave you to interpret that however you like. Hey, DDR RULES. I play it for about an hour every day. I've been working my way up from Beginner's Mode, and I'm finally good enough where I can do a lot of Standard Mode songs. Well, I'm going to have to opt out of commenting on the Metal Gear Solid stuff you said, cuz I neither like nor have I played that game. Sorry, FPS and "shoot 'em up bang bang" games just don't fall into my enjoyment genre. If I'm gonna kill stuff, I'd rather do it 'a la Silent Hill.' Stomping on monsters is soooooo much fun. You know, my best friend is a fan of "I Believe in a Thing Called Love." I think it's okay, but it's not something I'd ever consider doing a video to. Although, maybe I can scrounge up some kind of idea to suggest to the kind viewers of my thread. To be honest, I DID think of a few anime that would work well with it; I just haven't typed up an idea to post yet. Well, that was really long so I'll shut up now. Thank you for posting and if you have anything else, don't be shy, okies? ^_^
odian0 - I have faith in you. For that song, though, a retelling of the movie seems appropriate anyway - so you ought to be able to fly with that idea. When you finish the video, you'll link me here, right? I don't think I'll judge your video too harshly anyway, cuz I know what a challenge you undertook. Because Blood is so short and has so few characters, I have sympathy for anyone who tries to do a side character video with that. So, don't worry. I'll be nice. ^_~
It's pretty sad, you know. I've been neglecting my suggestions so badly that I'm actually running out of them! In fact, I'm using the last two that I have anything typed for right now... Also...
WARNING! SOME OF THESE IDEAS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM THE SERIES, SO IF YOU SEE AN ANIME YOU DON'T KNOW HERE AND DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN AS THOUGH YOU HAD JUST BEEN KISSED BY A ROSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
X, Yami no Matsuei – Seal – “Kiss from a Rose” (piano version) – this song is really lovely, and just a general storyline video would work well for this. I can’t say much else, except that it can’t have any main characters – which is, of course, what the whole challenge of making this video would be.
Noir – Mad at Gravity – “Historypeats” – Altena, legend of ‘Noir’ – just the name of this song made me think of Noir. This video would not only serve as a character profile for Altena, but it would be a great way of detailing just what the legend of Noir is. Actually, this would probably make a much better Kirika character profile, but I’ll leave that for another thread. Besides, I’m curious what a creator might do with this video when I say “side characters only.”
I really like the second suggestion - it just fits Noir so well! You know, though, I have mixed feelings about it. I don't know that using it for a side character video would do it justice. Anyway, I think I'm going to use that song myself in my "Anime Compilation Project" - sister project to my "Video Game Compilation Project." Still, I wouldn't care if anyone else did a video to that song and anime too. I'm one of those people who doesn't really care if my ideas are "stolen." While other people might, I don't. Cuz you know what? If I really have my heart set on something, I'm going to do it anyway - regardless of who else has done it before me, or how well they did it in comparison to me.
Anywho, I should stop now cuz I still have to post on my other thread. So...
My keystrokes are: "Farewell, Good Luck, and Happy AMV-ing!"
