Just got new Naruto episodes. And my brother just took that computer over and started watching. I think he has an addiction. Well, at least now we have something that is interesting both of us. :)

If I ever make an AMV, it`s going to have finnish music. Beware!

And from exactly how many video editors age is shown on his\her profile or vid? Or is it only guessing that worse the vid, the younger the editor is?

Thanks. That`s what I wanted to hear (not that "why the hell don`t you have it" thing).
I`m okay with just my e-mail.

So could anyone explain why they ask in the registration are you 13 or over or under 13? :?
the site, amvs.org, does have a 13 yr. old age 'limit'. It's just to say that the videos there are rather 'PG oriented'. Just a disclaimer, though it IS not suggested that a 12 year old download and watch a hentai amv.

Compliance with COPPA 1998. Section 1303 is probably the most applicable; you don't need to jump through these hoops about disclosure if you have a limit of 13.

You may have amv making software, do you use windows xp, if so you have windows movie maker, you can make them with that. I'd like to see what you can make with Finnish music, it would be unique. Read the guides and make one for us.

As for fangirls, I've seen some fangirls at cons that are deffinately more mature than schoolgirls. In fact a few are somewhere around my age. The voice actresses I have met are a few years out of school, and some of them are fangirls too. I don't know if Sara the Boring conciders herself a fangirl but she would seem a bit older to you. (She is a young lady from my side of the age group)

As for the younger you are the worse your amv, That would make mine golden since I am well past half a century. I don't think age is particularly important, patience, experience, creativity, artistic ability all mean much more. Make an amv for us, have fun, do as well as you can, and mostly be proud of your work, however it turns out, it comes from you.
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?

Come and join us on the tiny but fun forum at http://www.allanime.org

Well, it explains Vlad...

Really, there are only a few ways that age factors in. One, amount of spare time to devote to editing. Two, access to money and thus hardware and source. Three, mental capacity to grasp the theory behind what we do (both artistic and technical). Four, the emotional maturity to express yourself comprehensibly.

Beyond those, age has little to do with anything. Yes, many of the better editors are college-age and beyond, but that's hardly an exclusive thing. There are far younger editors, like Tsukin, who are very good. There are also older editors who are quite good, like Vlad and Kai Stromler (who will probably be annoyed at me for calling him old, but whatever).

Really, 90% of everything is crap. When you don't get exposed to the full spectrum, just the cream of the crop, your perspective gets badly skewed. Bear that in mind. :amv:

it was a completely over generalized statement, it wasnt ment to be "all youngiin's dont know what theys doin!" cause as i've said a few times, i know of exceptions to the statement...

I would call myself a fangirl in jest (I'm a Hakkai fangirl, etc.), but definitely not in the vaguely hate-tinged way that this site tends to use that term. This site definitely uses "fangirl" in this weird, middle-school-ish, ewww-cooties sort of tone, and it's really weird. I don't think I've seen the like.

The other parts of the internet that I frequent aren't so hung up on gender and "girls do this guys do that we rule you drool lolololol," and yes, out there I do use it. I'm a fan. I'm female. I'm enthusiastic, at times. Fangirl. Silly word, but please, this whole hobby is silly. Revel in silliness when you can. Life is short and often boring.

Anyway, oldwrench speaks sense, as usual. I'd like to add another thought - people. Really. Who cares. Unless I am trying to find you at a con to say hello, I don't care what gender you are. People who make good videos don't make good videos because of their gender. It has nothing to do with it, unless they have discovered that they don't like using their hands on the mouse. They have talent and also happen to be of a particular gender. It's not really that relevant. If gender were the only deciding factor, if every guy or every girl were automagically awesome editors because of that magical chromosome, we would have a lot more good videos, wouldn't we. It would aaaaaaaaaall be easy.

And age, I'll stand as a counterexample to that generalization, though money and freedom certainly make the task easier (my computer is MINE, and I share it with no one, dammit!) I started making videos around age 25 and have always sucked. But it's still fun.

Finally YES, 90% OF EVERYTHING IS CRAP. Sturgeon's Law. Learn it. Remember it. Then get over it.

I don`t have a movie maker :( I can`t even get a quicktime on my laptop (which is a windows 2000, by the way) and so I really can`t watch all the vids I`d wanted :(

And my section of animes is still quite small (anime has just started to get attention in Finland, so there aren`t so many good animes published in here yet  )

So it might take a while to make an AMV........
