why is metal almost nonexistent in amvs?

I'd always thought of Nightwish as primarily Symphonic Metal. Obviously not all the songs are metal (lookin' at you, Eva), but I can't deny the metal roots in many of the other songs. =\

I mean, what, is it not legal for a band to be considered metal and still play some stuff that is another (sub)genre? >___>

Oh, and for the record, I had also slotted Metallica and Korn into some form of a metal genre in my mind. The others listed there I haven't listened to enough to speak on...

What I meant to say was.

I agree, metallica et.al is rock NOT METAL because everyone on this entire planet, INCLUDING DEAD PEOPLE, know that metal is it's own genre and is in no way related to rock music at all. If you think rock might be an all encompassing term that includes metal, or heaven forbid a band could be rock AND metal at the same time you obviously are an alien and should be detained by the CIA for experimentation. Linkinpark arent Metal and have never been metal and anyone considering them metal has serious issues

(not to forget, LP are even closer to hip hop than metal).

Nightwish and Metallica are Metal, the rest are a mix of rock and nu/alt metal (aka unworthy metal, soft metal, pussy metal, etc.) [Nightwish = symphonic power metal, Metallica = Thrash Metal, Heavy Metal]

But infact, this Thread (as you can read into the first post) was mostly referring to "harder" and "real metal".

And as LF mentioned there are bands that play pirmarily metal but also include some songs more along the "rock"-lines. hell, Opeth even relased a full progressive rock album, but that doesn't make them a rock band

vivaldi is correct for the most part about linkin park.
nu metal is a pretti broad term...just because the subgenre sucks doesnt mean its not metal.

evanescence is general rock though.

No, LP are Rock/Pop/Hip-Hop..Closer to Hip-Hop then anything else there.
