Crossing the black cat's path...

Hey all

I'm looking for anime with cats, preferably large cats, preferably lions, but I'm thinking those'll be rare, so any cat'll do. Specifically, I'm hoping to find cats associated with darkness, mysticism, spiritualness, a cat that might serve as a guide to another character.

There's a small house cat in Code Geass.
If you watch the recent Cat MEP then you can see several cats, and the info is included with the amv, of course. Most are small cats, however.
Other small cats are in Fruits Basket, Black Cat, and Inuyasha. In Inuyasha, Kirara is a "Cat" but has two tails. She gets bigger when she transforms, however.

The only big cat I can think of is in Utawarerumono. There is a cat-like animal that is quite often in the series.
You can see if it's something you're looking for by watching the opening.

Meowth and Persian (Meowth's evolved form, which is bigger) are two cats in the Pokemon series. Persian looks like a mountain lion. Just by going to bulbapedia, I believe, you can find episodes in which they are in.
Same goes for Luxray. Another pokemon that looks like a cat (probably not what you're looking for.)

There is a tiger in the first episode of Pet Shop of Horrors, and in a few episodes of School Rumble, though I don't know exactly which ones. (After Harima runs away, becomes a monk and is followed around by wild animals.)

There is a demon-possessed black cat character all through Ghost Stories.

There is a cat who becomes possessed by a god in Kami-chu, and who does strange or mystical things in several episodes.

Cat Soup might be work checking out, if you are interested in the surreal. Also, there is a woman in Magical Play whose bra is made of live cats, for whatever the sheer weirdness value of it is worth.

As much as I hate to say this, you should look up Cybersix. It's more Americanized anime, but its pretty much got exactly what you're looking for.

I havent checked other posts but there's a white tiger named White Blaze that serves the main character in Ronin Warriors:
