What will happen when...
Crow, have you ever thought about the moment? When everything just turns childish and it's the moment to say good bye to the amv world? Personally in my case, I have been involved 8 years in amvs, but I guess I'm experiencing the same feeling that Master Caldwell felt in his years, but before that, I must finish my last amv for this year, my Akross entry. Being part of this community has been great, although I dont know what will happen after Akross Con

I figure if that day ever happens to me that I'll just slowly fade away, and I won't make a big deal about it either.

There's 2 videos I HAVE to make before I quit, so I'll be around 'till those are done at least.

I have challenged myself for this occasion. Like Silvermoon, if this is going to be my last one, then I'll make it worthy of it. So I'm studying under the influence of Istiv. By the way, There's 1 anime that I want to edit considering that it's a new one and there aren't too much amvs about it.

I thought about it and it made me really sad. I really care about this hobby.
If I don't want to do it anymore: Well... I will just move on to a different video media. I'm a film student. I will just make something different and move on.

I've sorta been feeling like that lately, but AMV's are something I think I'll probably continue to do till the day I die. Some years will be more prolific than others, but it's not something I can see totally quitting any time soon. That and I sortof have "moved on" to bigger and better things (making an anime), but you can just look at that as the biggest AMV the world has ever seen. Or something

Re: What will happen when...
I don't think I'll ever come to a moment where I feel editing itself is childish. Perhaps I'll move away from editing anime and on to other footage types or perhaps I'll stop all together. Who knows? But I doubt I'll ever feel that this is all childish. It's a creative outlet. When I was younger I used to draw a lot but after a while I moved on to writing prose and poetry instead. I don't look back at my drawings as childish or the fact that I drew childish. I just moved on to something else.
For me though, I doubt I'll ever truly leave. I may stop making videos but I doubt I'll stop being a fan and watching them. I love music and I love the art style, it's why I got into editing in the first place. But if I were to leave I'd probably just stop. No use making a big fuss about it.

I edit too slowly to retire. I still have ideas from 2004 I haven't finished yet.
