Well, in the Katekyo Hitman Reborn! anime, their entire plot is based on the battle for these precious rings that help give them power and stuff, it aired in 2006-2010 though, so Im not sure if that's recent enough for you.

The girls in Madoka Magica keep their Soul Gems as rings when untransformed, and there's a few shots of their hands with rings in the series (I can't remember anything exact, sorry!)
