Dunno what's wrong
It's weird. Lately, I have been unable to make anything. It's not really a lack of inspiration, or a lack of talent, or any of that. It's really, whenever I go to make something... I start it and then I hate it. Like something is preventing me from ever finishing it. Before, I would finish it in a heart beat and I'd love it. But now, it seems like I just don't want to. Not that I am not pleased with my own work, but... something just seems off with my mentality towards it. Contests used to always boost my spirits and what not, win after win. Loved each and every one. Now it seems to do nothing for me. It's like I don't even aspire to achieve wins anymore. I just enter and "Oh hey. A win. Cool." And I really don't think it's any form of dislike towards amvs as a whole, but rather something external affecting how I feel about it all. I don't know what it is but it's bothering me. I loved making these, it was like a passion to me. But now it seems my passionate flames are essentially just an ember now. But what is it? I'm finishing high school, about to go off to college, everything seems good. So, why is this bugging me so much to where I just can't make anything? I dunno.
So for now, I'm leaving the scene. I know I wasn't exactly a big member of the community, but until I can find my spark again, it's just a waste of my time to make things that don't please me. I'll still enter cons and stuff but... I just dunno when I'll ever actually make something again. Sorry y'all. Love you guys.

You can't force inspiration. Just wait until you feel motivated again and then editing will be fun again. It's just a dry spell, it happens to everyone. Nobody can be "on" all the time, unfortunately :/

Re: Dunno what's wrong
I think all artists go through a point where creating just feels frustrating and irritating, and you lose the love you had for it. I'm still trying to deal with this with drawing, but I hope I can offer some advice still.
In one way, I think it's a great idea to just take a break. I would consider art (and I do think video editing is a form of art) to be like any other type of skill that you can burn out on or overtax yourself... think of it like a physical activity you overdo and you strain a muscle. You have to rest to recover.
In another way, I want to say that, when it comes to art, you can't just sit and wait for the inspiration to strike or for the joy to come back. You have to fight for it. Even days that it feels like it's just a big pain. The only way to work yourself back out of it is to work. A lot of people imagine that art is this fun, effortless thing to do, and it's not. It's a lot of work like any other skill not just to improve at but to keep up.
I'd also recommend trying something new. In the past if I felt burnt out on drawing, I'd do something like try a totally different medium I wasn't familiar with and start drawing with that. Maybe when you feel up to it, try video editing a style or an idea you normally wouldn't ever consider. Trying something totally different can be frustrating but might bring back some of that feeling of interest. Heck, maybe try a totally different art form, as long as it gets you in the spirit of creating.
I hope that maybe helps in some way?

Just take a break from it for a bit. I notice I'll pop out almost a whole timeline worth in a couple days and then I'll start feeling burnt out. I usually take a few days to play a video game or something like that, and that typically helps me get back into doing things when I get in that I really don't want to edit rut. Eventually I'll see something that makes me want to get back into editing that project I stopped working on a few days or weeks ago and I'll get back into it then. So maybe just try taking a break do some fun stuff don't worry about necessarily finishing any projects something may come to you when you least expect it.

I appreciate the comment. I know I'm not quitting but it's like... it's so unlike me to go more than a month without making something so I think the rest has been helping. I'm gonna try to finish one of my projects hopefully.

Inspiration is only 1/10th the formula. Most of us look for Something that's "just not right" and have fun Exploiting it.
-hehe, give that a try
