AMV style

Post by hubertash » Wed Jul 10, 2024 2:11 am

Hi all, I have some experience in creating AMV's. I also used to have insta page and yt account for the same years ago but due to some reasons couldn't continue then. I plan to start doing it again but I'm totally lost. Considering the past years shorts/reels content have been getting very famous but I feel that the essence of AMV is in long type AMV's (1-3 mins one) but then they won't get views. What do you guys think? Also what is your AMV style?

Most people who view this forum edit for fun or to see the videos they want to see. They don't concern themselves with views.

Even award-winning videos don't get as many views as you'd expect. So just make what you want.

If views are the most important to you, then only edit popular anime and/or songs that are currently trending.

i'm a newbie in general, so I don't know what my style is...
But if you want views, then you're at the mercy of the algo. Then, feed the algo what it wants. Algo doesn't know that it's an AMV. It's just another piece of content. So, if you post good quality content all the time (i.e. quantity and frequency), in a niche, algo likely will favor you more.
For me, I edit for the fun of editing, but I also am legitimately creating fan content (i.e., I have not yet created AMV out of source I haven't watched. I like the source, so I make a vid. But that may change as I dive into AMV more, dunno). I find that if I keep working on one source for a while, algo favors it because people who liked the first vid may also like the second vid because they're fans of the show. This is just the basic niche algo for youtube. But ultimately, I can't sustain that because there are too many things I want to edit. So... in the end, I still really only edit what I want to edit. Don't get me wrong, I love it when people do see it and like it. (Who doesn't like such positive feedback, even if it's just a vanity metric). But editing isn't work. I don't need "measurable" results. So, it's I like it that matters, much more than makeing what the algo likes

I'm still new to editing animes too...but I always search for the latest anime that's trending on yt or tiktok and then start my journey to find the perfect song(prefer the most trending one tho) but it depends on what style of amv you wanna produce. Some ppl like to do hard amv's while some prefer very smooth and relaxing amv's(idk if they even exist...specially the relaxing kind). But as a beginner i always choose to go with smooth edits without many transitions and all. Trust me then you can learn more about "hmm whats my style"? like that. :shark:
