How to use Divx as a AMV creator
Ok, this may be a stupid question and I read that newbies shouldn't be asking stupid questions but I do have one. How do I use Divx to make an AMV? Thank you for your time.

I like to use huffyuv myself, but I've also tried editing directly from the vobs recently, and that works pretty nicely.

Unless you're willing to wade through loads of Vdub and Tmpegenc and spatial filter bullshit, export in DivX. DivX is good. DivX is the standard.
As for source material... it's a case-by-case basis. Some downloaded DivX videos look better than the original DVDs (thank the gods for noise reduction), others look like badly encoded Windows Media.

Ask me about my secret stash of videos that can't be found anywhere anymore.

Black Monarch has a point, It all depends on how good your sources are.
Seeing that you are a noob you are probably using fansubed footage. like i stated before if you sources are real good quality U should B fine. Personally i use huffyuv too. Its anot that hard and actually once u convert it with Tmpgenc it actually saves aolt more space. turning a what would be a 50/60 mb vid in Divx, to a 20 or 30 mb vid. i suggest you go with Huff.

Well, technically, no. MPEG-4 -- the container format and the video encoding / decoding guidelines -- that's the standard. DivX is de facto, sure, but it's not "THE standard"the Black Monarch wrote:Unless you're willing to wade through loads of Vdub and Tmpegenc and spatial filter bullshit, export in DivX. DivX is good. And all that tweaking - it's not bullshit if you know what you're doing All those parameters that you can tweak are tweakable for a reason -- it's to let you, the encoder, figure out what is best for your particular source. There is no "one size fits all" solution for video encoding, despite what you say.

I am crazy. I do MPEG2 editing. Everyone tells me I'm stupid, so don't listen to me.
But in my humble opinion stay away from Xvid. I'm so pissed off at that piece of shit it isn't funny.
