Would you watch a video like this?
Some time last year, I recall asking around on this forum about what the potential response to a "different" sort of AMV would be, but I don't recall that much of a response - the project in question was a Gravitation "concert music video" set to one of the slower, easier-to-do ballads in the show.
The thing is… I don’t think it’s –really- an AMV in the truest sense of the word, if we go by the definition that an AMV is anime footage set to music that has a central theme and a story to tell that relates to the show in question. Instead, what I was planning with this video was to create a ‘real’ music video, like a concert video, or something you’d see on MTV. Before starting on the project, I changed the song to a more upbeat one that’s not from the show, but sung by the guy who did the songs for the show, Kinya Kotani. The challenge for me here was to keep the video interesting throughout the song, and to lip-synch to a foreign language. ^_^;
It’s been unlike any project I’ve worked on so far – requiring much more time and a lot more precision. I’ve spent the past two weeks working on the first minute of the video, but I’m starting to question whether it’s as worthwhile a project as I thought it to be. The main issue right now that I need answered is… would YOU sit through a 4 min 30 sec video that’s pretty much like the first minute you see here?
Any thoughts/comments most appreciated.

I think that definition is strange. An AMV doesn't have to tell a story, it can be a dance vid or something and still be just as much an AMV. Or tell a story totally unreleated to the show the footage comes from.aaronlye wrote:The thing is… I don’t think it’s –really- an AMV in the truest sense of the word, if we go by the definition that an AMV is anime footage set to music that has a central theme and a story to tell that relates to the show in question.
I'd watch it, sure.aaronlye wrote:It’s been unlike any project I’ve worked on so far – requiring much more time and a lot more precision. Well, I guess that's true. ^_^; But there are some dance vids out there that do tell a story at the same time, particularly some of OmniStrata's stuff, for example.marvin wrote:I think that definition is strange. I'm using my standard video editing program - Adobe Premiere 6.0, with Virtual Dub to deinterlace, followed by TMPGEnc to convert to MPEG for distribution.OtakuForLife wrote: By-the-way what are you using to edit that?

Thanks for the support, guys. It's good to hear.
I don't think sufficient footage will be an issue (I hope ^_^;) since there were quite a few concert and music video scenes to begin with in the show, so it's really more about putting the rest of it together coherently and in an interesting fashion. ^_^;

DUDE! Excellent idea I think. Go for it.
What is the anime in question here? I wouldn't mind knowing since anime with people singing on stage is quite what I'm looking for in terms of future AMV material.
Now, we wants the rest!
