Why do you people keep on using the same song over and over again??? not everyone loves linkin park dont ya know! and DBZ... ok i get it! Akira is a freaking anime master! but do you have to show your love sooooo-ooo clingy-like? use something else like Yu Yu Hakusho!! that ROCKS!!! or Naruto .. and another thing... I love the AMVs you guys are making... being a novice myself... this is something i want you all to know ^.^ STOP MAKING THEM IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!! its annoying! if you do not know what you are doing dont make them! (this only goes to the people who sit at home recording episodes of anime from Cartoon Network!!!) (if this does nort refer to you please disregard this message) THANK YOU!!!
I really dont care if you steal this! Just as long as you dont let me find out.

It *could* go here, if you look at it the right way - instead of asking about an amv idea, he's discouraging a whole mess of ideas based on the genre - that has to do with amvs, and it's definitely a suggestion (sounds more like an order). And my answer:
Never!!!!
Heh, never give up, never surrender. I don't stop anything unless it's against the rules, and so far there's no rule against crappy amvs, or overdone anime amvs, or anything of the sort. Not that I'd make very many dbz vids (I only did one, so there!), but there's something to say for them. And this has been discussed all over the place (I've been here only a few months, but I've already seen it run to the ground) - but I didn't give my piece, so here goes - the benefits of dbz 'first' vids:
Reviewing - it's easy to compare them to all the others, easy to give pointers about commonly done mistakes and general editing. For someone who's not an expert, I can still take a newbie dbz vid and point out all sorts of things that, if applied, can be very helpful to future projects. DBZ is accessible, so it's easier for new amv makers to get criticism by using an anime everybody knows and has seen vids for (not like me - I started with a mess of Yu Yu Hakusho, and they were as bad editing-wise as any of the over-done dbz, but not enough people had seen the show to tell me point-blank what needed to be done, with dbz it's easier). And once a new person comes in with a dbz, or a mess of them, they can get a quick lecture on over-used animes - making them stretch their imaginations to find new stories in the anime if they're that big of fans for the show.
As for telling people what to make and what not to make - don't like it, don't watch it. If no one downloaded or watched the dbz vids, people wouldn't have much reason to make them except for personal enjoyment, and that's their right if they enjoy poorly made or overdone amvs.
'nough said? I think so. 8)

Going by the rules doesn't mean doing everything there isn't a rule against, it just means if there's no rule - there's nothing to stop you. There isn't a rule against taking 4.5 minutes out of an episode, cutting the clips into 3 parts and rearranging them before tying it to a song and calling it a video - there isn't a rule against that. But I'm not going to do it. However, if someone wants to, and enjoys it, then who am I to stop them?

Look just because you don't like Linkin Park doesn't mean that people can't make Linkin Park Videos.
I personally don't care for Linkin Park, but you telling people that they can't make Linkin Park videos is kind of despotic in my opinion.

There are a lot more than dbz vids coming in (check the announcements, but also the opinion exchange if the 'new' vid search is scaring you with dbz-ness). It's just that about 50-60% of new amv makers start with dbz, and there have been so many new makers uploading lately that when you go on the vid search you get a lot of dbz results. It doesn't mean there isn't a crapload of other anime music videos, just that dbz stands out for its familiarity. (And if you want to go with the org as a whole, most of the 'good' amv makers won't touch dbz - the ones who do, try to give it a better name).
And about LP, well, I like them. ^_^ I've liked them for years and I'll continue to like them. If I have an amv idea using one of their songs for an anime or combination that I haven't seen used, I'm going to do it. I have done it. My choice, his choice, anyone - that's the great thing about not screening amvs for song choice or anime. Anyone who likes can have a shot at any song & anime combination. I for one would love to use In the End for an amv, no matter how many dbz vids have it (and I've only found one dbz vid with that song which I count - the others are nothing in comparison).
Just keep in mind that people like the songs, that's why so many use them. If everyone did vids for obscure songs they like that no one else cares for, no one would watch the amvs. From a sharing perspective, that's pretty useless and only satisfies those making vids for themselves.
