question [video plagiarism]

Hi guys, i have kind of a dilema here, you see some time ago i made a music video with an anime called saint seiya, i used the final fantasy 8 chorus song that more than half of you this page has already used, but that's not my point, my question is, what do you do when you find out that someone took your whole video and just changed the music and added an extra clip 'cause the song was longer than the video? i mean, he just wrote "by (name)," some weeks ago i would've obliterated his entire page and sent him crying for his mommy, but i don't know if i should do that anymore, i talked to someone who knows the guy and after that the guy added on the description "based on the works of retrohelix" but the thing is he didnt based it on my video, he literally took the whole video, so how do you think i should handle this problem?

Tell him to take it down, and if he doesn't listen, take it to the PPP. It's mostly a fanfiction group, but they do patrol any plaigerism of fanworks (fanart, fanfiction - fanmade videos fall into this). But that's only if you can't handle it by yourself. I'd say ruin his life - that 'crying home to mommy' sounds very appropriate.

Heh, you should have seen me when I thought someone had used one of my vids - mine was the first to use the song, first with the song/anime combination, and focusing on the same character - then his came out. ^_^;; But I find it funny when I see people using *parts* of my amvs - especially the poor quality parts. Heh...that's just dumb, I don't even have the heart to get mad since they're hurting themselves.

Still, plaigerism is crap anyway you look at it. Burn him.

I'm guessing the vid isn't hosted here, but you *can* take it up with his web provider and get him for the copyright infringement - amvs. That's cold, but it works.

I don't mind if someone steals any "normal" unaltered footage not counting when I change the scenes from my videos since people have done it before but if someone took any of my edited effects parts like my Spike vs. Piccolo scene from Bebop Z, then I'd raise hell.

thanks for your anwswers guys, i wouldn't mind i he had only taken clips because i dont check every new music video that comes out, but taking the whole video is ridiculous, so i'll try to make him take it down.
