.avi files and how to shrink them...

Post by RanmaSaotome2002 » Sun Dec 28, 2003 2:21 pm

I recently downloaded a few .avi files here.. .yes they were good but the size was UBEARABLE! until i came across a nifty little proggy called WinMPG Video Convert. if ya do all to divx, then under the CODECs to use.. make sure that the VIDEO codec is set to Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec v2. leave all options alone then.. i compressed a 68 meg file down to 20.. AND kept the quality!!!!! Just a frendly reminder from an AMV viewer!!

Please understand that anyone who knows anything about digital video already knows that you are full of shit.

That said, please post "evidence" so that we may rip it apart and prove how full of shit you are.

Perhaps he cannot truly tell the difference in quality.

Relinquish your harsh attitude for later battles, Jbone. There is no need here. 8)

While I agree with jbone's sentiments, I don't always agree with the delivery... ^^;;

But yeah, as Pie Row said, sometimes people just can't distinguish the quality. To people like us it's SOOOO obvious, but to relative "newbies" to the field, they can't always tell. For example, when my parents first got a DVD player, they just couldn't understand why it was so much "better" than VHS. After a while of comparing their old, fading VHS tapes, they started to notice ^^.

For a lot of people, WMV and low-low-low-bitrate DivX / XviD files really do look fantastic. They just don't have the experience of viewing large amounts of these files, and just don't know what to look for when describing "bad" looking files.

When it comes down to it, yes, jbone is right... there's no logical or truthful way what was said could be "true"... but someone believes it is.. ! They're REALLY not providing any valuale "advice" (in fact, quite the opposite), and I don't think their barge-in-and-demand-things attitude will change any of that...

So yeah. That. And stuff.
