Ripping Audio then Converting to MP3
How do I do this? I wanna take out some sound from my AVI files that I had originally sourced from DVD, and put em on my Mp3 player for a good laugh.

Umm, not quite. If your video is an AVI file. Run through the "Save WAV" process in Virtualdub with "Direct stream copy" for audio. take your new .wav file and rename it to .mp3
That is of course if the audio was encoded MP3 in the video that is. I'm not sure what the other alternatives are but they probably suck.
For MPEG videos you can do it the same way for AVI but you'll have to recompress the WAV to MP3 with some other software. Or...
You can use TMPEGenc to extract the MP2 audio. In "MPEG Tools" click the "De-multiplex" tab and browse for your MPEG file. Double-click the audio stream and there you have it.

*smacks head in shame* Ooops! Uhh I was thinking something else.
Well no actually, if you made these AVI files then you should know how you encoded the audio. Otherwise there's this section of the the audio guide that might be helpful for you.
PS. if you're only looking for a snippit of audio from your video you can use Virtualdub to define this. Uhh see my other post.

A good program is dBPowerAmp. It can re-encode computer audio files into mp3 (there are seperate codec download packs to re-encode WMA and RAM files), along with rip from CD's for the best mp3 music audio for AMV's.
But I did have software conflict issues with it, the worst being it messed with Nero and had it make one too many coasters on my eMachines with Samsung 40x rewriter.
Your results may vary.
