TIMING (what 2 many ppl lack) + a need 4 amv-making programs
Whats doin. yes im a newbie from the anime backward country of australia(otherwise a good country) whos heard of only a few decent anime in my life. like proper anime (eg final fantasy, dbz ) rather than comic cartoons (eg. spongebob squarepants ).
Before i put in my 2 cents worth, id like 2 ask 4 some help. in attempting 2 use clips off dvd's and windows movie maker ive encountered errors. could some1 plz give me the names of programs that would assist me in the following:
1. a movie maker that uses '.vob' files
2. something that converts '.vob' files to '.mpeg', '.wav', etc.
3. something that rips dvds and creates the above files
4. a movie maker that is as easy to use as movie maker, yet also allows more effects (eg. background video)
could u plz only post these programs if they r free and work on windows XP.
TIMING!. i have seen approx 50 amvs be4 i even began 2 create them, and only a couple of these have what i call, proper timing. now im not talking about that lyric sync crap (while sometimes cool, not 2 b used 2 often), but genuine timing. i want 2 see explosions, drama, action when a song hits a high point, NOT in the middle of a slow verse. all i have been seeing up 2 now r amv's that have huge (and i mean HUGE!) slabs of clips which may (by some fluke chance) hit a high in the chorus, but never continue timing past that point. a prime example would be a DBZ amv i downloaded a while ago which was set to 'linkin park - faint'. not only was the amv obviously created from more famous dbz amv's, but it had not timing and a huge explosion was used in the middle of a drum section. it has become slightly sadening.
However, i am yet 2 see any other members amv's (as a newbie its kinda hard 2 figure out everything early on) but i have slightly higher expectations than i have 4 most providers. DONT LET ME DOWN!
Personally, i have created 2 amv's 2 date. a DBZ set 2 'LINKIN PARK - LYING FROM YOU' and a final fantasy set 2 'EVANESCENCE - BRING ME @ LIFE'. i am yet 2 post these anywhere, yet i am eager (once i find some time) 2 do so. these clips were created 4 the purpose of "TIMING", explosions where they should be and emotion where it should also be. there is no lyric sync (if there is i must punish myself) and has no deeper meaning (that might be my next one, if i had more anime clips 2 use) but it has good timing and thats all i care about after seeing certain rubbish amv's. the DBZ amv is my favourite and i will let u no if i eva post it.
PS> i'd also appreciate if any1 could post websites that have anime clips i could use 4 future clips, thanx(in advance...i hope...)

First, allow me to point you to the guides section in the general site. You want the guide to "all things video and audio". You should also check the general video forum, as there are stickied threads which have detailed walkthroughs of what you're looking for.
Also, it's generally frowned upon to use downloaded clips of any kind.

Another pointless post!

First, do me a favor and write out the words instead of 2 and 4 - it just gets messy if you write more than one or two sentences.
Kay, onto the tips.
For editing programs, ripping dvds, preparing footage, anything you might need to know about pre-editing and post-editing work - see the guides:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/
Specifically this guide:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/avtech/
For editing programs you'll want to head down to the 'video software help' section and at the very top you'll see a bold 'sticky' thread that lists various programs - some free, some very expensive.
For getting 'popular' vids (can't promise they're good since it's opinion), check the member main page - the 'top 10 percent videos' and 'top star scale' and other 'top' lists:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... ercent.php
You might also skip down to the 'site help' section and check out the stick thread for 'downloading videos' - it gives a rundown on what the site has to offer. The same goes for 'uploading' videos - there's a stick for that there as well.
Next, you need to move up to the 'site announcements' forum and check the first thread - the rules. You aren't allowed to ask or tell anyone where to get downloadable clips. So no one here will answer that question of yours and you'll be safer not to ask again.
Lastly - most people around here like to flame dbz creators and those who like the anime. Be prepared for that. The same goes for Linkin Park and 'Bring me to Life' - check the 'most overused anime/song' lists on the member main page if you want to know why. When you upload your vid you can announce it (or them) in the 'site announcements' forum - but again, expect immature flames for your choice of anime and music.
On a personal note - there's a thread about lyric sync in this forum. I'm for it. The thought of someone making a dbz vid with absolutely no lyric sync scares the bejesus out of me, and I normally like dbz. I hate to think how random a video like that would be. I'm for the 'lyric sync' plus music sync (your 'timing' issue), plus good quality, equals a nice video to watch. If you didn't want lyrics, why not just use an instrumental song? I happen to like 'Lying From You' *because* of the lyrics. Hate to see them ignored as pointless when they 'make the song' for me. >.<

Bittman, you have your own right to use whatever you want in your videos even if the anime/song choice is overused. People here really don't have anything else to do except pointing out the same over and over again . You'll realize yourself that doing the same ideas over and over isn't good, but you need to realize that.

Hey, did you see the date that was made?
BEFORE the remastered DVD came out. IT was 2001 for fuck's sake. It was also my first video. But was it Linkin Park? No. Was it Dragonball? No.
I've already put you both to shame because of the siple fact that you've both made videos with Dragonball. Losers.
I don't need to justify my previous choices, especially to your punk ass.
