Top editors

Who are the top editors/studios? (and also why?)

Has there ever been a "Best editor of all time" competition?

This is a serious question and not a post to start some flamewar.

TIA

The quick way to find some of them is to look at the people who have won contests such as the org's VCA and also major contests like Otakon, AWA and Anime Expo.

Don't be modest, give me names. I'm also lookin for the old-skool masters.
Besides, using the super search to find the winners of contests is quite a lot of work.

Lets give credit where credit is due.

There are two studios I like; Emac and ikasu from smooth studios but both haven't done anything in a while so.....

C'mon let's hear some names and reasons why they're so good ...or brilliant or geniusses or whatever.

TIA

To be frank, you're asking for a lot of opinions with very little objective reasoning.

Some names will stick out by consensus, true, but keep in mind that any time anyone asks for "the best" of this or that (which is way too damned often) I'm of the opinion that the answers one gets are not always the best.

And, uh, that said...

According to viewers on this site, the best editors are:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... sbymem.php
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... sbymem.php
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... sbymem.php

That's for the last 3 years, the vca contests AD pointed you toward. The winners are selected by viewers on this site, so if you want to know the 'best', those are your people. ^.~

[The link for Viewers Choice is on the member main page, on the left - no search needed, you just have to be logged into your account.]

Oops - that first link is wrong, the actual winners for that year:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... sbymem.php

But again, you can find all the names and links if you go to that part of the site.

What about those who don't compete?

That's where the inaccurate weight of public opinion, as funneled through this forum, comes to bear.
