I need an anime for this song

Post by rubyeye » Thu Apr 22, 2004 6:27 pm

I thought I'd try something different by getting all of your input on what anime would work with this song. Forget about how it sounds, what's important is the theme and the lyrics. They must make sense to use with the given anime, so here goes.

*And please, I am serious about this, as this song just screams to be made into a (anime) music video*
____________

As descibed by the vocalist, the theme is:
"...The message it carries is about having ambitions, believing in your dreams, that if you believe and you keep going into your direction hopefully you will go through this life … you’ll get to where it is good eventually."

The music is fast and hard-edged so this is going to be an action video:
"...a very melodic chorus crashing with real heavy riffs, and also with an incredibly epic guitar solo…"

The lyrics:
well, i got time on my side as i roll the dice
there is something out there waiting for me
and i see roads without signs that can lead you blind
and the lonely way is easy to take

hold on - hold on tighter
it's a long way to where i'm going

meet me in a seventh sky
see me at the sunset station
above the twilight i'll be flying there
it's just the state i'm in
can't keep myself from dreaming
won't stop believing i'll be flying there
somewhere in a seventh sky

and as our life is told and we're growing old
collecting pieces of the dreams we've been chasing
brothers and sisters of sin
who's gonna loose and who's to win
need a crystal ball to show me the way

move on - move on faster
it's a long way to where we're going

/repeat chorus - outro

Another clue:
There are some "fly by" sound effects like an airplane or spaceship blazing by.
____________

Immediately I already have an idea of what anime I could use but it's one that's been used so many times already and I'm trying to look for alternatives.

I hate to say it, but Naruto fits quite well. You could also try Scryed or Pilot Candidate.

I was just going to say Naruto.

But only because of the crystal ball line.

Lead singer is a man with a deep, roaringly powerful voice.

Uh...Outlaw Star maybe?

Also, yes, yes this one: Macross Plus.

It has planes(one of my favorite, the experimental YF-19 Excalibur), and has some good character interaction. Its a damn good show with plenty of fast paced action and fly bys(to fit the sounds you described earlier).

Slightly off-topic, but are you familiar with Sinisstar?

I'd love to see more videos (more than just a single one with a broken link).

They have some good songs, I'd like to see some videos if anyone felt like making some good ones.
(I like your work on that 08th MS Team vid. I found this line fitting on multiple levels: "...I am the great white hunter..." Shiro's RX-79EZ8 was white, and Shiro means white in Japanese. Plus, I like that song alot. Good work.)

A good first vid, if anyone takes it, "White Noise" paired with either Akira or Spriggan.

Also, "Spaceman" would make a good vid...
"...enter the space man, he's only half a man...."

Oh, one more:

Yukikaze

Haven't seen it, but it appears to have promise.

You might have just nailed it with Outlaw Star. Figuring this out for myself, it is the only title I can find that works perfectly. But as I've said, it's already used enough times and I was just hoping to find some alternative that's not as frequently used.

Isn't that an arcade game?
