Flip? Filipino, correct? And is that considered a derogatory word outside of the Filipino group?priuscomet wrote:we might as well creat a thread for each nationality now if we're going to head to head to that in the future...
but no..i'm not african. i'm flip..
Just more wondering.
And now that I think about it, I may have a bit of African American in my background, from the Native American tribes that would house escaped slaves. Not enough to consider trying to qualify as a brother, though . Then again, I guess we are all brothers and sisters in the world. Anyhow, this was a common enough occurance, that at Mardi Gras they have chiefing competitions, of a sort, in which African Americans make Indian chief costumes and have a sort of pageant. The one with the spiffiest costume wins for that year or something (it was in National Geographic, I forget which issue).
I'm out...

If you belive in the Origins of the human species then we all have a little piece of Africa in all of us.
I'm not African American though and I don't think "Black" is African American unless they were born in Africa (raised here) or their last parents/grandparent's generation came from Africa.
I think that if you were born in America or any nation for that fact, your Nationality would be of that Nation, unless of course you are dual/triple etc. nationalist (you claim citizenship in two, maybe more countries).
Anyway, I curious as to why there's a sudden large number of threads asking these questions?
