Scary Songs

Post by billy_wires » Tue May 04, 2004 10:38 pm

OK, I hate to ask here (Only because I don't want my idea stolen. Hey, I don't trust my own family, so back off :x ), but I need a scary song for an AMV. I have footage, but no song. I can work with most any song, but it needs to be creepy or scary or something like that. Slow is best, but I might be able to work with a fast one. I am thinking about Hollow Life by Korn, but if there is anything else out there I'd be much abliged.

Hangin' Tough by The New Kids on the Block. It still gives me chills thinking about it even after all these years.

Cradle of Filth: Mannequin good song great vocals
if you have a chick part in the anime you'll find ths song to be perfect. Just a suggestion from a musically influental madman.

They have tons of 'spooky' stuff. Try looking up Edward Ka-Spel.
If nothing else, harsh noises get your attention.

Scary as in leap-out-and-grab-you scary, or scary as in "This sounds like the product of a disturbed mind" scary?

If you're looking for the former, that's nearly impossible to achieve these days. If you're looking for the latter, I recommend Tom Lehrer's "I Hold Your Hand in Mine."

scream by the misfits. its a scare song, but its not really MEANT to scare you.... idk, i think itd work.

the subhumans have a couple like, apocolyptic nuclear war songs (when the bombs drop and human error, for example). come on, the apocolypce is scarey, right?

i know theres some out there im just not thinking about.

Got one for ya -

"Blue Jay Way"

It's a Beatles song by George Harrison. Very creepy.

There's a fog upon L.A., and my friends have lost their way

We'll be over soon they said, now they've lost themselves instead

Please don't be long, please don't you be very long, please don't be long

Or I may be asleep

Well it only goes to show, and I told them where to go

Ask a policeman on the street, there's so many there to meet

Please don't be long, please don't you be very long, please don't be long

Or I may be asleep

Now it's past my bed I know, and I'd really like to go

Soon will be the break of day, sitting here in Blue Jay Way

Please don't be long, please don't you be very long, please don't be long

Or I may be asleep

Please don't be long, please don't you be very long, please don't be long

Please don't be long, please don't you be very long, please don't be long

Please don't be long, please don't you be very long, please don't be long

Don't be long, Don't be long, Don't be long, Don't be long, Don't be long

Don't be long, Don't be long

<<From Iamthebeatles.com

This song was written by Harrison in August 1967, while on a visit to California with his wife Patti and friends Alex Mardas and Neil Aspinall. Upon arriving in Los Angeles on August 1, they were taken to the home of Robert Fitzpatrick, a music business lawyer, who was away on vacation in Hawaii. His cottage had been rented for Harrison and was located on Blue Jay Way high in the Hollywood Hills above Sunset Boulevard. They were expecting a man for dinner, their friend Derek Taylor, who formerly was The Beatles press officer. Harrison, concerned and somewhat irritated that Taylor was quite late in arriving, used this time for writing this song. In Taylor's defense, Blue Jay Way was difficult to find, as one could be close, yet still separated by a ravine. This song, which began as a short, rather simple ditty, was transformed later in the studio for the film. Harrison's vocals were altered to sound as if they were ghostly, and backwards tape, droning organs and a cello were added to achieve the desired effect. The Beatles attempted to attain again that Eastern atmosphere, and with studio magic, did so, without using any Indian instruments. >>

If you mean scary in a fucked up sorta way you could do something with Tori Amos's version of '97 Bonnie and Clyde. And if you REALLY wanted to make like THE most horribly scary and disturbing video EVER, do it with footage from Cardcaptor Sakura (of course there's only a couple still images of Sakura as a toddler so you'd have to do everything frame by frame). Basically it would be the story about how Sakura's dad kills her mother, drives her dead body out to a lake (with toddler Sakura in tow), dumps her mom into the lake and poor little Sakura just supresses the horrible memory...yes, she died cause she was "sick"...mmm... ^_^

Maybe someday if I think my l33t skillz are good enough I'll attempt it, but probably not until I get around to remastering my Forever video.
