FACT: The top 6 most downloaded videos on the org are ALL comedy videos.

FACT: Comedy is one of the least popular genres used when people make videos

Talented creators hardly ever make comedy videos. They are fun to make an everyone likes them so make them goddammit!!

I have a plan:
1) Get ahold of trailers for cult classic movies (like Airplane, Monty Python, and Spaceballs.... wait I did that last one)
2) GO NUTS!

It's better to be sucessfully popularist than a failed pretentious auteur.

Depends what you mean by "better." And depends on the person. I think I'd be happier as a "failed pretentious auteur," if by "failed" you mean unpopular or unsuccessful. I don't like making comedies and I wouldn't be good at it, so I aim for other types of videos. ^_^

However, if you're one of those people that do this for other people, then, by all means, make more comedies.

*shrugs* I dont care about the popularity of it all, that's irrelavant, I just like to see comedy videos and find it such a shame that so few talented creators even try to make comedies.

The amount of bad comedy videos in contests these days is so disheartening.

Yeah, heh, that's just the thing. I can edit drama and action (or I like to think so) but my comedy would come out so horribly wrong that it'd look like drama... just really fucked up and stupid. :?

I think comedy is the hardest genre, personally.

Being a failed pretentious auteur myself I think I can safely say that while it might be better to be a successful popularist the absolute BEST thing to be is a successful pretentious auteurs. That way we get the ego boosting fan worship but we can still show our faces at coffee houses throughout the land without anyone screaming that we should be ashamed to wear our berets. Now all I gotta do is figure out how to be a successful pretentious auteur. Maybe I should start including haikus in my videos or something.

You don't see alot of comedies because they are nto what's in right now :P

Right now the main populous wants Dance videos, but i could see comedy being the next big thing.

I'd still like to see alot more well done horror videos myself. I still think that's the hardest genre to actually pull off because even though alot of videos are categorized as horror they are not, they're just bloody.

Really? I wouldn't have guessed. The only two vids I've ever completed are comedy, and the only projects I'm actively working on are comedy. I'm pretty sure my AMV career is going to be based around comedy. 8)

Gotta start somewhere. Making bad comedies and getting feedback is better than never trying your hand at comedy at all. 8)
I think comedy is the hardest genre, personally.
I find it much easier to laugh at something than to react any other way. Thus, I think comedy is the easiest genre, personally.
