I won't say the anime, but anyways here's the deal.

I need a list of songs that fit this criteria - life gets worse and worse and worse and worse and worse and worse and worse and worse but yer optimistic through it all ^^ then you die

course those who happened to see the 'so so' series will know what it may pertain to, but let's not think too much about it, i'm doing this project ^^ hehe

any genre, funny or serious, just looking for songs that work like that, thanks

funny, it doesn't sound like any anime i've seen. don't spoil for me though...here are a few suggestions.

Sounds like Wolf's Rain to me.
Actually it sounds like about half a dozen anime.

Depending on what your angle is you could go either with an 80's rock ballad like unforgiven (mettalica), When the children cry (White Lion), or with a country song like: If tommorow never comes (Garth Brooks), or even something like industrial synth. E Nomine has a great sound and some wicked stuff on the lesser known tracks.

Sounds like Boogiepop Phantom. Even the upbeat ending to that one wasn't very comforting.

Anyway, the song I'd recommend is "Follow You Down" by the Gin Blossoms.
