What do you do to psyche yourself up?
Okay I would think that it's safe to say that almost every AMV creator has times of doubt and doesnt' really feel up to editing their video, but know that they need to get it done. Therefore, the heart really isn't into it and then that could lead to unsatisfactory results...
So what do you do when you need to pshyche yourself up to complete or continue work on your video? Do you read your other opinions? Do you look at good AMVs that you've dl'd in the past? Or do you go looking for new ones to download?
Or do you give it time and come back to it another time? What are your cures for these times?

This won't really help, but maybe you should take a break and reevaluate the reasons why you're making it in the first place? If it's not meant to be done, it won't be, and if it is meant to be done, it will. Maybe it just means that you need to take a break from making vids for a while.
I'd say give it time. If you really want to do a good job, take your time, and make sure you're doing what you really want to.

I always get the feeling that if I have to sit there and force myself to put in work then I'm not going to come up with anything good or anything satisfactory. Usually, I just wait until I have an idea that needs to be put into action. If that means not editing for days or even weeks at a time, then it happens...just have to wait for the epiphany...

On my own behalf, what is this about? It's not like you NEED to finish them within a certain timeframe, unless you're doing the con thing. So what if you don't feel like editing? Don't edit. You do have other things to do, right?
Half of the time I decide that the idea wasn't worth it after all, and toss it onto a CD-R in case I feel like retrying it sometime. The other half of the time, I go on my merry way doing whatever else for a couple of weeks, until I feel like editing again.
I mean, it's not like I'm getting paid for this; I don't HAVE to edit if I don't feel like it.

This is an EXCELLENT QUESTION! =] , Hehe I get this alot and it is VERY hard for me to get over it but one way I deal with it is that I take a break by watching some anime, I know that sounds a little strange but it still keeps my mind on the amv im making and also gives me alot of ideas for my recent and future amvs. I hope this is the type of answer your looking for !
