How many episodes of a certain anime do you use for a AMV. 1?, 2?

i dont make AMVs but id say a full series so that it dosent get repeditave with other peoples AMVs with the same anime

As many as it takes to get the video done. Dramatic videos usually end up taking more episodes because you need certain scenes to get a certain point across. That's how I see it anyways. Although it is 1 in the morning and I can't think that well.

Depends on the AMV i want to make, i don't think there's a simple answer to that question. For my next AMV i've ripped 11 episodes so far.

As many as it takes to get the job done. I don't bother counting out the number of different episodes that I'm getting my footage from. I see the series as a whole when I'm editing, regardless of how it's divided for ordinary viewing purposes.

I personally will minimize the number of episodes I use in an AMV subconsciously, just to minimize the work I have to do. Hell, Puppets and Bugs came entirely from nine minutes of footage out of a single episode.

my last AMV (and only) used a range from like episode... 26-85... i think... not all of them mind u... but i used a lot of them between... if you would like to see it... it is a Naruto AMV... and here it is:

I used epsiodes 2 and 13 from Love Hina almost exclusively for a video with a few scenes from the Christmas Special. I also grabbed a couple seconds elsewhere from vol1 and 4 but that is it.

As many as needed to carry the video without repeating scenes. One of my videos uses about three minutes of one episode for it's source while for another I scanned through the entire Love Hina series looking for clips that'd fit. I have found that since I've worked with movies for half my videos that I've developed the habit of making something fit rather than looking for a perfect fit since source was limited.
