Final Fantasy Series Video help
I'm thinking about doing a tribute video to the entire Final Fantasy series. FF1-X-2, maybe even up to 12. I plan on doing the clips in the sequence of which they are released.
However there's a problem:
How will I do Final Fantasy III? Square never made videos for this game. Should I just use the game play footage? But I think that's against the rules. Or should I use some of the artwork? It will be awkward if everything else is CG though.
Any ideas anyone?

It would be against the rules to make a video entirely out of gameplay footage, but as long as most of the video is made up of cutscenes, it should be OK. I also made a video using most of the Final Fantasy games (except for III) which made use of gameplay footage. If you can extract video from that game, then go ahead and use it. Check out my profile to find my video if you want to see how I made use of gameplay footage (although I didn't use any footage from the 8 bit games).

Final Fantasy III = Final Fantasy VI
FF3 is the english version
FF6 is the japanese version
so theyre the same game in different languages.
So if you're planning to do a ff 1-12 tribute
you either go
1, 2, 3, 4,5, 7, 8, 9, 10 ,10-2 , 11, 12
or
1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10-2, 11, 12
ooooooor
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 ,10-2, 11, 12
(putting same game footage two times)
and like what rsynist said use the CGI footage that Square made for ff 1-6 or youll literally be using Super Mario Land footage for the AMV

Final Fantasy III != Final Fantasy VI
They are different games. When Final Fantasy VI had been brought to the US for the SNES, it was given the title, Final Fantasy III (after Final Fantasy IV got the name FF II). The first 3 FF games were for the 8 bit system, though only the first one was released in the US for that system. The earlier games had since been released for the PlayStation with their appropriate titles and included CG cutscenes, except for FF III. So right now, if you want to include Final Fantasy III in a video, the only way is to use gameplay footage from the original game. While that fotage may not look too good in a video, as long as it doesn't stay on screen very long and you use the right scenes at the right moment, it could work.

I think you'd be best off just skipping Final Fantasy 3 in the video. Think about it, most of your AMV audience will have never played the game before. So why bother? Gameplay footage doesn't look very good in music videos so I doubt it would even be that enjoyable just to put it in for your own satisfaction.
