Nudity in amv
ok i'm working on a vid that will contain some nudity. i won't go full frontal or anything but i was wondering how best to show it in the anime so that it will adhere to the :SIGH: american standard of decency at contests and such.
So basically should i crop out naughty parts, blur them, srobe-light them? what is most appealing to viewers?

Don't think a "butt-shot" would be illegal.
Frontal is obviously a NO.
Blur if you must or host it elsewhere so it becomes a Direct or Indirect Download.

If you're going to use frontal nudity and need to censor it, you can do various methods. Blur, Mosaic, and Black-Box are common methods, but you be a little creative and maybe paste a picture of someone's head or put a fig-leaf, a fruit, or something that covers the naughty parts. Like those Girls-Gone-Wild commercials. They use the video tape covers or comic-book style action bubbles to cover the boobs.
Yeah ... I use a Mac ... it works and I like it.

ok. lets take amv's as an art form. in art their are two types of bare bodies. their are nudes. nudes are made for the male gaze. put simple, they're porn, on one level or another. then theirs naked. an artwork which portrais people as being naked isnt made to give any sexual stimulation. its done for a higher purpose. take the scene in GITS where monoko is standing naked atop a tall building. the reason for this (in my oppinion) is to show the raw humanity in her. to say that she is as human as any other, besides being a machine. its a powerfull image. so if you can differenciate between whats nudity and whats naked then you should be ok, as long as you dont use any nudity.

A) I personally hate blatently censored things. If you don't feel able to show it then don't use the clip. It's annoying to have this huge 'Oh look, I could have shown boobs but I'm not and I'm making sure everyone realizes that' pixelated or black box image. Besides, doing this draws the viewers attention and somehow I doubt you want your viewers thinking 'oh, he covered the nipples with stars' instead of thinking about whatever the video is actually about. So my vote is on don't use the scenes at all. If you must use them and you must censor it then do a light blurring so it isn't immediately obvious you censored.
B) Not all nudity is the same. If you're doing full frontal fanservice then you'll probably run into problems. If you're doing nudity in a artistic non-sexual way then chances are it's ok. For example I've seen several Perfect Blue vids that didn't censor and got away with it because the nudity there is pretty much the exact opposite of fanservice, it's meant to distrub instead of excite.

I say if you don't want to censor anything just get hosting, which isn't all that expensive, and put it up on your own site. If you do that your not limited by the rules of the org. I wouldn't really worry about decency. If you warn people there is nudity in it there shouldn't be a problem. If they don't want to see that they won't download it.
At least I won't download something if it has something I don't want to see.
