... but you stole the footage, ALL of the footage from an anime.
along with that, you're not going to sue or anything.
you'll just have to deal with it and hope it's not better than yours.

I don't see anything wrong with using some clips from other people's AMVs...what if your comp is too crappy to hold all the eps you want? as long as they don't steal your idea, I wouldn't worry...

one time I saw an Inuyasha-Disturbed video that was done incredibley well, COMPLETELY the same video put to Adema's Immortal song...now that is horrid...

my friends have used clips from my AMVs cause they couldn't find them anywhere else

i understand that. i started out the same way, but that was before i joined this site. i didnt know you could rip dvd footage when i did that. but i think that using someone elses footage that they spent hours on converting has no place on a site like this. i would never do that without asking the person if it is ok. when i watched the vid. he used my ending as his.

just my opinion.

This is a more difficult situation and there are many different ideas about how to handle this. On the Org, using someone else's pre-edited footage without acknowledgement is considered rude. You should contact the video creator and ask that you be properly credited for the editing work you did on the source material.

If however, the user does not want to credit your work, please give full details of the video, the alleged stolen source and your e-mail contact to admin@animemusicvideos.org and the issue will be looked into. Decisions will be made on a per-video basis.

Their's a difference between 'stealing footage' and 'stealing edits'. I haven't watched the AMV though, so I don't want to speak out of place.

yeah, I understand what you mean...there are some clips in Trigun and DBZ vids that were done really well to match the music and it made me mad when my friend used those (even though they weren't mine) if I ever do take footage from someone else's AMV, I always make sure it isn't edited in any way...no speedup or slowdown..no fading into another clip and no obvious cuts.

x 1000

I can't count how many times my vids have been used by people who don't know where to get the YYH tournament special - two short scenes, most of them taken and recycled from one of my oldest and fuzziest vids. But if that's the only place they can find them, they usually don't care.

When it comes to rare scenes, I'd expect a vid to be harvested as the only source. Now when I see those vids, I tell them next time take it from my newer vids - the quality is much better in those. ;p

/this only holds for unedited clips

Stealing footage form anothe creator is prohibited innthe org.
I am in favor of that because us as creators thak our time and effort to make a good AMV and it is not fair to us that other persosn steal our footage. If you are so pissed off by these you should contact the other guy and tell him to give you the credit you diserve and if he dosen't want to you can drop a message at the Mod drop box. But first try to resolve the issue in a clam and peaceful way by talking to the other guy and arrange an agreement.
Trying is the first step towards FAILER!!! <awayoflife>
