I have a question
Hi there. I'm new here and I was wondering why whenever I try to download a video it almost never works when I go to play it. Do I need to post in the forum a certain number of times before I can download local? All I have is a WindowsMedia player. Could you guys please help me?

Unless they've changed the rules recently, you're too new to download on local. You have to wait two weeks from your join date or donate in order to download on local.Shinobi of Sound wrote:Hi there. But most of what you're describing probably is a codec program. Hope it works out (I've tried computers so slow they could not play video files even with the proper codecs).
ffdshow is the codec pack I use. It should allow you to play most .avi files in winamp or in Windows Media Player.
Some filetypes do require more, but most you should be able to play in Window Media Player once you have ffdshow.

They did - change the rules, I mean. Check Phade's last thread in the Announcement forums, the two week wait has been lifted. ^.~bubblehead wrote:Unless they've changed the rules recently, you're too new to download on local. So yeah, it's probably a codec problem - or an error if he's using IE or a download manager.

Back on topic... Download the ffdshow codec. It has practically all you need for AVI and MPEG viewing. And it's updated like, every 2 weeks to a month. A different media player is also good. Try one like BS Player or Media Player Classic (MPC), both work really well.
