Help find a love song

Post by :x Plague x: » Sun Jan 02, 2005 3:15 am

Hello
This is my first time making an AMV, and i need help finding the right song. Ok to start i'm looking for a love song that sounds somthing like linkin park, or evanescence, but not so cliche, oh and with the Vocals performed by a female. Maybe somthing from No Doubt but i dont know their music very well. [/quote]

Well, you wanted a love song in the style of LP or Evanescence, and it should be female vocals...hmm...I had to ponder this one for a while. So I asked myself some questions: Does this person want a rock song or a ballad? Both bands do both genres (well, maybe "ballad" isn't the right word for LP's music...) After much thought, this is what I came up with:

Garbage - "You Look So Fine" - this is a darker sort of love song. I don't know. Ever since I saw a video of my favorite anime (Gravitation) put to this song, I knew that I loved it. In fact, it's one of my top ten favorite songs of all time.

Sarah McLachlan - "Do What You Have to Do (live)" - this is a true ballad and a very sad song, indeed. Again, this isn't happy romance here. The vocals are easily on par with Amy Lee's talent. Also, I would normally never suggest a live version of anything, but, in my opinion, the live version of this song is done FAR better than the studio version.

I don't have any specific suggestions from her, but you could try Sheryl Crow's music. She has more of a rock feel to her stuff.

Silent Hill 3 OST (producer: Akira Yamaoka) - "You're Not Here" - I believe the vocals are by Melissa Williamson, but I'm not positive. This song is rock, but not quite LP or Evanescence-style rock. It's a very negative love song, so it may not be what you want. I'm just a fan, that's all.

Fatal Frame II - Tsukiko Amano - "Chou" - okay, it's not romance, and it's in Japanese, but it DOES have a style a la Japanese Evanescence. I say this because it has soft, lovely verses, and powerful, emotion-packed choruses. The song is absolutely gorgeous. Even if you wouldn't use this for a music video, it's still a great piece of music.

Hmm...sorry I can't help more. I guess what you're asking for is a little out of my knowledge. Seriously, I love Linkin Park and Evanescence, but the only female rockers that come a little closer to what you want are Kittie - and they DON'T do romance. Most of their music is "angryangryIhatetheworldf***you" kind of stuff.

I don't know. If you like any of that stuff, or you want more of my 'help,' then tell me, okies? Until then...

Farewell, Good Luck, and Happy AMV-ing!

Song by Doro might be good, although a lot of them are in german
Edenbridge has also a lot of good songs, Moment Of Time is a good example
Forever Yours by Nightwish is also a good bet
Xandria is another good band with a female vocalist
Within Tempation is a reasonable dutch band, a little slower than nightwish, but worth a try, eventhough the singer is sometimes a bit off key
and finally the new album by Stratovarious who seem to have aquired a woman to do the singing now

Hey thanks a lot for the suggestions, either the Garbage or Sarah McLachlan song should be perfect. I failed to mention it but i was looking for somthing a bit dark/sad. These two songs sound perfect i just have to choose one. Thanks again. Oh and if it intrest anyone to know, i am going to do a Noir video. I know a noir romance video has been over done already, but I wanted to make a tribute to Chloe and exhibit her Particular sentiment.

Is it too late to offer up my opinion?

Lovesong by Snake River Conspiracy (cover of The Cure).

It's a great bittersweet ballad (what else would you expect from The Cure?) but re-interpretted by what sounds like a less commercial, more experimental, less jump-on-the-downtuned-guitars-and-turntables-and-lots-of-screaming-bandwagon, more electronic, less cliché version of Evanesence. Her voice isn't half as good as Amy Lee's, though.

Either that or pretty much anything by Lacuna Coil. The ORIGINAL Evanesence. And they're Italian. But they sing in English. So don't be put off.

I hope I could be of some small help, but I guess by now you're already half way through editing, let alone choosing the music and whatnot. Oh well. Just ignore me. Everyone else does.

Peace out.

Right now i'm still in the process of chosing whcih clips i am going to use, mabye i shold start a blog. But anyways I've been geting a lot of good ideas during this project and i the more songs i hear the larger this project becomes.

"Kingdom Hearts...is LIGHT!"

Post by dj_ultima_the_great » Wed Jan 12, 2005 9:33 pm

Hey, I always like to help. Of the songs I suggested, the Sarah McLachlan one and the Garbage ones were the ones that I liked best, so I'm glad that you liked them too. ^_^

As always, Farewell, Good Luck, and Happy AMV-ing!

PS: I'd like to help more, but I don't know that I have too many more female vocal songs like that. Oh, and I've seen Noir. Can't say I'm sure of how a romance works there, though, unless...... Are you going shoujo-ai (girl x girl)?

Got nothing specific, but try geting songs by lacuna coil or nightwish.

Oh and, your sig is too big. The max size is 4 lines of text.

hmmm... you could try to look for a song by the band Lacuna Coil.... female lead.

or, you could give "love song" by the Cure a try as well.
